Like music, the Vietnam-Singapore friendship has been built over the past 50 years, on a solid foundation of trust, understanding and a shared aspiration for peace, development and prosperity.
According to VNA special correspondent, on the evening of March 12, at the Yong Siew Toh Theatre, National University of Singapore, General Secretary To Lam and his wife attended a concert to welcome the official visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to Singapore, especially when Vietnam and Singapore have just upgraded their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Also attending the concert were: Singapore Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat and his wife; high-ranking representatives from Vietnam and Singapore; and the Vietnamese community in Singapore.
The program is jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi Symphony Orchestra and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore, Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, and Community Liaison Committee.
In a solemn and meaningful atmosphere, in his welcoming speech at the concert, Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Tran Phuoc Anh expressed that music, especially classical chamber music, has a magical power - connecting souls, overcoming all distances and borders.
Like music, the friendship between Vietnam and Singapore has been built over the past 50 years, on a solid foundation of trust, understanding and a shared aspiration for peace, development and prosperity.
Ambassador Tran Phuoc Anh emphasized that the two countries' official upgrading of their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is an important step forward, reflecting a new height in bilateral cooperation.
This not only brings great opportunities in the fields of economics, trade, investment, education, science and technology, but also creates a strong driving force to promote the connection between the people of the two countries.
In the emotional musical space, the Ambassador hopes that each melody will be a good wish for the Vietnam-Singapore relationship: increasingly deeper, more effective and sustainable.
Speaking at the concert, Professor Peter Tornquist, Dean of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, affirmed that this event is not just a concert, but a celebration of the long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Singapore, affirming the common commitment and deepening the relationship between the two countries and in the dynamic, culturally rich region.
The concert celebrates the harmony and bond that the two countries build through art.
Professor Peter Tornquist said that the National University of Singapore is honored to have had brilliant Vietnamese students and alumni, and Vietnamese musicians who took their first steps here and started their professional careers right on this stage. This is a legacy that the Conservatory of Music is extremely proud of.
Professor Peter Tornquist looks forward to further strengthening collaboration between Singapore and Vietnam in music; is ready to support the development of the Vietnamese music ecosystem, welcome talents to Singapore and connect them with a global network of partners, educators and touring artists.
The concert program with the performance of 50 artists sent by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism combined with about 10 artists from Singapore brought many emotions to the audience.
