At the opening ceremony, Principal of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai expressed that this school year, the school is happy to welcome nearly 1,600 good and studious students; especially, warmly welcoming nearly 400 students from grades 1 and 6 who have just joined the common home - Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School.
In December 1982, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School was established by the decision of the Hanoi People's Committee with the mission of educating blind children of Hanoi so that they can integrate into the community, live independently and contribute to society.
The school implements an inclusive education model for blind students from grades 1 to 9, focusing on helping to develop the talents and interests of blind students, organizing vocational training classes for blind students, skill training classes to help blind students integrate better with the community, supporting a number of centers and schools, consulting parents of blind children in some other provinces on experiences in inclusive education, experiences in assessing blind students, inclusive teaching methods, specific teaching methods for blind children...

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the Prime Minister would like to send his warmest sentiments and best wishes to all teachers and students across the country. He wished that our 2024-2025 school year would be filled with joy and better achievements than the previous school year. He stated that during his lifetime, beloved President Ho Chi Minh, the National Liberation Hero and World Cultural Celebrity, advised: "For the benefit of ten years, plant trees. For the benefit of a hundred years, cultivate people"; "An ignorant nation is a weak nation". Always remembering and engraven his advice, over the years, our Party and State have always considered education and training as a top national policy, a particularly important, key and decisive field; and have issued and effectively implemented many policies, guidelines, mechanisms and policies to develop education and training.

Looking back at the 2023-2024 school year, we are pleased to see that the education sector has overcome difficulties and challenges, effectively implemented assigned tasks and achieved outstanding results, the quality of education has been improved, and students, including those with disabilities, have been better cared for and educated.
Today, attending the meaningful opening ceremony of the new school year at the special school, honored to be named after a poet, world cultural celebrity Nguyen Dinh Chieu, with the mission of educating visually impaired children in Hanoi city, the Prime Minister was pleased to know that, in nearly 42 years of growth and development, generations of teachers and students of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School have always strived to achieve the goal of "High-quality School - Leading efficiency in inclusive teaching and learning nationwide".
The school has been implementing an integrated education model for visually impaired students from grades 1 to 9 - the most important stage, creating a foundation for both physical and intellectual development. Visually impaired students are prepared with the necessary and basic skills for the development of their personal talents..., helping them to confidently and equally participate in learning activities to integrate into the community.

In particular, the Prime Minister was extremely impressed with the outstanding achievements of the school's blind students, such as: Dao Thu Huong, valedictorian of the University of Foreign Languages; Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, who completed her PhD in the US; La Minh Truong, an example of an advanced youth following Uncle Ho's teachings; Ly Thanh Anh Kiet, who is only a 5th grader, is already a freshman in the Piano Department of the National Academy of Music; and many other examples of overcoming difficulties and excelling in their studies that we cannot mention at today's ceremony.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister warmly congratulated the School, congratulated the students; congratulated the parents. The students are truly shining examples of effort, trying, overcoming difficulties, hardships and physical limitations to achieve very proud achievements, constantly bringing glory to the school named after the famous person Nguyen Dinh Chieu.

The Prime Minister stated that in the new school year 2024-2025, we must continue to promote the achieved results with the motto "Taking students as the center and subject - Teachers as the driving force - School as the support - Family as the fulcrum - Society as the foundation". Whatever has not been done well must be promptly overcome to do it well; whatever has been done well must be more determined, make greater efforts, and take more drastic actions to do it even better, to achieve even higher results, so that the new school year must achieve better results than the last school year.
At this opening ceremony, the Prime Minister shared some thoughts: The Ministry of Education and Training, ministries, branches and localities must be the foundation, making an important contribution to creating a healthy environment in terms of law, culture, ethics, knowledge, creating a learning society, especially favorable conditions for students with disabilities and those in difficult circumstances, including:
Thoroughly grasp and effectively implement Conclusion 91 of the Politburo on continuing to innovate education and training. Focus on implementing well the directions and tasks set for the 2024-2025 school year.
Focus on implementing the General Education Program associated with innovating teaching, testing and assessment methods towards promoting students' positivity and initiative; regularly updating and applying advanced educational methods, inheriting achievements of science, technology and information technology, developing in line with current educational trends in the world.
Complete the national education system in an open, fair, and equitable direction, promote a learning society, and create lifelong learning opportunities; including urgently completing the Planning of a system of specialized educational facilities for people with disabilities and a system of centers to support the development of inclusive education.
Improve the quality of education, diversify training models, programs, and learning methods suitable for learners. Strengthen community-integrated education for people with disabilities and children in special circumstances; focusing on inclusive education in preschool and general education institutions to ensure equal, quality, and appropriate learning rights for children to develop their abilities, integrate, and increase opportunities to contribute to the community and society.
Parents should always be a solid support, a spiritual and material support, sharing joys and sorrows, understanding difficulties and challenges. Especially for students with disabilities, we must create confidence for them to overcome adversity and disadvantages, to study well, live well, and become useful citizens to society.
The school must be a support, creating all favorable conditions in terms of facilities, technology, equipment, learning conditions, security, safety, health, equality and convenience for students. For students with disabilities, it is necessary to ensure that they are equipped with all necessary skills and knowledge so that after graduation, they can be independent in life and confidently integrate into the community. At the same time, it is necessary to pay attention to and develop the school's teaching staff to meet the requirements of educational and training innovation so that teachers can truly be role models of morality, self-study and creativity for generations of students to follow.
Teachers must not only impart knowledge but also be exemplary in training, always encourage, motivate, guide, share, motivate and inspire students; discover, encourage and create conditions for each student to develop their strengths; not only teach what they know and understand, but also teach in a way that makes students excited to learn, stimulates curiosity and creativity; not only learn through books but also focus on practice; not only impart knowledge and skills but also strongly arouse patriotism, solidarity, self-reliance and the desire to develop a prosperous and happy country.
The Prime Minister hopes that teachers will always be deeply aware of the tasks and responsibilities of the teaching profession, so that they will constantly strive to fulfill the task of educating the young generation, the future owners of the country. Each teacher at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Secondary School should continue to strive to overcome difficulties and challenges, always share, sympathize, understand and be a guiding light for students, especially visually impaired students, on the path to accessing the vast world of human knowledge.
