Senator Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federation Council of Russia, commented on the ceasefire proposal recently approved by US-Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia.
Writing on Telegram, the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian Federation Council said that the country's forces are advancing in Ukraine, so the situation will be different on the Russian side, Reuters reported today, March 12.
“Any agreement, with all its aspects of the need for compromise, must be on our terms, not on the Americans’. And it is not an exaggeration to say that the real agreements are still being written on the front lines,” Kosachev said.
Ukraine accepts US ceasefire proposal, eyes turn to Russia
On March 11, the US and Ukrainian delegations held talks in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The meeting lasted about 9.5 hours. After the meeting ended, a joint statement was posted on the website of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, stating that the Kyiv government was ready to accept the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, and that Washington would immediately resume military aid and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.

After the US-Ukraine meeting, US President Donald Trump said he will likely speak by phone with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin this week. The White House owner expressed hope that Moscow will agree to a 30-day ceasefire proposal with Ukraine.
In a press conference broadcast by Fox News on March 12, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said that President Trump had "put Mr. Zelensky in his place" and emphasized that Washington was serious about a lasting peace agreement in Ukraine.
