TPO - It has become a tradition in recent years that before students return after the Lunar New Year holiday, Dr. Ha Xuan Linh invites international students studying at the International Faculty to come home to gather around the family's votive offerings.
Dr. Ha Xuan Linh, Head of the International Faculty (Thai Nguyen University) said that there are currently many foreign students studying at the faculty. These students come from countries in Africa and Southeast Asia. In addition, there are a large number of students from European and American countries studying as exchange students (short-term courses lasting a few weeks or a few months).

During the Lunar New Year holiday, foreign students often do not return home, they stay in Vietnam. Before Tet, the International Faculty organizes the Spring At Ty program for students in the faculty in general and international students in particular. There are many activities to welcome the New Year At Ty 2025 such as the traditional banh chung wrapping competition; experiencing folk games at the booths; "CULTURE NIGHT" gala; Ao Dai and conical hat performance; introducing regional cultures at the booths; cultural exchange; auction of artistic conical hats...
But perhaps the happiest thing is that foreign students are invited by Dr. Ha Xuan Linh to attend an intimate meal at his family's house every time they burn votive papers, before the Tet holiday ends. Mr. Linh said that foreign students like Vietnamese fried spring rolls the most. Therefore, every year the family prepares a lot to treat the special guests. One year, 30 students came together, and with his personal car, Mr. Linh was responsible for transporting them on dozens of round trips.
"The students are very happy. Some of them promise to come back next year to be invited home by the teacher. Each country has its own culture, and Vietnam's Lunar New Year is truly a unique beauty for foreign students studying at the International Faculty," Dr. Ha Xuan Linh shared.

In the atmosphere of welcoming the Spring of At Ty 2025, the Department of Science, Technology - Development Cooperation in coordination with the dormitory, University of Foreign Languages (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) also organized a visit to international experts and students staying at the dormitory during the Lunar New Year.
From an orphanage in Hung Yen, William Vu Duc Hai was adopted by a Belgian family. In 2023, after graduating from KU Leuven University (Belgium), Hai decided to return to Vietnam to study Vietnamese at the University of Foreign Languages.
On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, Duc Hai decided to celebrate Tet in Vietnam, the first Tet in his homeland. Hai said that this is an opportunity to truly experience and immerse himself in traditional customs.
For Duc Hai, the journey back home is not simply about reconnecting with his biological family, but also a meaningful turning point, where he finds a deep part of himself.
Lewen Astor Lillebror Walter (from Sweden), a student at the University of Foreign Languages, is attached to the traditional Vietnamese New Year through the occasions of celebrating Tet with Vietnamese families and friends.
Astor especially loves the custom of giving lucky money during Tet. This year, Astor celebrated Tet in Ho Chi Minh City with his friend's family. After Tet, Astor spent time visiting famous places in the southern region of Vietnam such as Can Tho, Ca Mau and Phu Quoc.
