TP - Choosing a major to get a job after graduation is always a difficult question. Before the enrollment season, university admissions consultants all have answers.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center, Hanoi National University, said that the results of separate exams such as competency assessment exams, thinking assessment exams, etc. are being selected by universities to be included in the draft admission regulations for 2025.
This year is the first year that candidates will take the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 general education program, so the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam has been adjusted. In 2024 and earlier, there were 3 mandatory parts, this year there are only 2 parts and an additional optional part. Mr. Thao advised candidates to carefully study the information on the school's enrollment plan to make appropriate decisions.

The Testing Center has counted about 150,000 accounts opened on the system to prepare for the registration for the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam. This year, Hanoi National University has chosen the highest level of internet infrastructure provider to limit unwanted impacts on candidates during the registration and exam process.
The center requires candidates to register their phone number to receive an OTP code when registering, to avoid the situation where candidates create an account to register for the exam to reserve a seat without paying the fee.
Should choose the industry with a lot of room
Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thu Huong, Vice Principal of Foreign Trade University, said that statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training in recent years show that in university admissions and training, business and management majors account for a large proportion; the proportion of science and technology majors increases every year. Regarding choosing a major, Associate Professor Huong said that in a context of constant change with many unpredictable factors, candidates need to prepare to adapt.
“Candidates must cultivate the ability to learn throughout life. When studying at university, candidates prepare to approach a wide range of careers, ensuring that they follow their desires and interests, easily adapt to change and be flexible when opportunities arise,” said Ms. Huong.
Candidates need to find a suitable learning environment. When registering their wishes, they should focus on their favorite majors and schools and register with appropriate methods. In fact, in recent years, many candidates have been admitted to places that do not match their wishes. Therefore, candidates need to have a safe choice for themselves.
Professor Nguyen Tien Thao shared that choosing a career is based on three factors: personal desires, parents' desires, and annual trends. When candidates make a decision, they will be influenced by many factors. Professor Thao believes that faith and love will motivate each person to continue moving forward. If you choose to follow trends, it is easy to stop when facing difficulties.
