Accordingly, in order to continue to strengthen the direction and effective implementation of activities to ensure food safety before, during and after the Lunar New Year and the Spring Festival in 2025, the City People's Committee requests the Departments of Health, Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development; Market Management Department, based on the functions and tasks of the sector, to strictly implement the assigned tasks according to Plan No. 335/KH-UBND dated November 21, 2024 of the City People's Committee on ensuring food safety for the New Year, Lunar New Year and the Spring Festival in 2025.
The Department of Information and Communications coordinates with relevant agencies and units to promote communication work, publish news articles on inspection and examination results, establishments violating food safety; news articles warning about food safety violations to the community; propagate and guide consumers to choose and use safe food.
The City Police, based on their functions and tasks, shall inspect and supervise the food supply chain, detect violations and handle them according to the provisions of law; coordinate with the City Market Management Department and other departments and branches in inspecting compliance with the law in food trading and distribution.
The People's Committees of districts, towns and cities shall strengthen propaganda work to enhance the role and responsibility of the People's Committees at all levels, of managers, of producers, traders and consumers in ensuring food quality and safety according to regulations; disseminate legal regulations on food safety as well as knowledge in the use of food poisoning prevention, selection, preservation, processing and consumption of food during Tet and the festival season; at the same time, in addition to traditional communication methods, it is necessary to innovate and promote communication methods on digital platforms.
Strengthen inter-sectoral and specialized food safety inspections in the area before, during and after Tet, paying special attention to foods used frequently during Tet, distribution warehouses, food supply chains, food processing and trading establishments around major festival venues. In particular, districts, towns and cities are required to conduct unannounced, unscheduled inspections, coordinate with local authorities to promptly detect food safety risks; strictly handle violations and publicize them in the media.
Prepare plans, standing forces, vehicles, materials, chemicals; strengthen training for professional forces in examination, emergency and treatment, investigation, and handling to promptly overcome consequences and minimize impacts when food safety incidents and food poisoning occur in the area.
