Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 1737/QD-TTg approving the Planning of Quang Tri province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, with the goal that by 2030, Quang Tri will reach a development level among the group of fairly developed provinces in the country, with a basic economic structure of an industrial - service province; one of the comprehensive economic centers of the North Central and Central Coast regions, a logistics and goods transit center of Southeast Asia and transport corridors in the ASEAN region, the Mekong sub-region (GMS). People's lives will be improved and enhanced.

Quang Tri strives for an average gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate of 8.2% per year in the 2021 - 2030 period.
Economic structure: Agriculture accounts for about 10.5%; non-agriculture accounts for about 84.5%; Product tax minus product subsidy accounts for about 5.0%; GRDP per capita reaches about 140 - 170 million VND/person;
By 2050, Quang Tri will become a province with a strong economy with the main structure being industry - services and will be one of the driving forces for development of the North Central and Central Coast regions; national defense and security will be ensured, and people will have a happy life.
Quang Tri will develop key, focal, and pillar industries and sectors, including building Quang Tri into a clean energy center in the Central region; tourism is a key economic sector. Building a quality and efficient logistics infrastructure; developing processing and manufacturing industries applying advanced and high technology; developing commodity agriculture, applying high technology, advanced technology and ecological and organic agriculture.
Quang Tri protects the environment, restores ecology and conserves biodiversity, combines exploitation and promotion of specific ecological values; develops inclusively, creates conditions for all classes of people to have the opportunity to participate and benefit from development achievements, implements social progress, equality, poverty reduction; and social security.
