Quang Nam seeks opinions on planning duty-free zone associated with Chu Lai Airport

On March 14, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam province held a conference to provide comments on the construction zoning plan (scale 1/2000) of the Duty Free Zone associated with Chu Lai Airport, Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, Quang Nam province.

According to the Management Board of Economic Zones and Industrial Parks of Quang Nam province, the Duty Free Zone associated with Chu Lai Airport has a planned scale of 223.26 hectares, located in Nui Thanh town and two communes of Tam Quang and Tam Nghia (Nui Thanh district).

This is a convenient location, adjacent to Chu Lai Airport; has Vo Chi Cong Street passing through; near seaports, National Highway 1A, Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway and 26 km northwest of Tam Ky City, 13 km southeast of Dung Quat Economic Zone (Quang Ngai Province).

The duty-free zone associated with Chu Lai Airport is planned as a complex area for production, processing, commercial activities, multi-functional logistic services... In addition, this area is a place with preferential income tax for domestic and foreign people who directly work and do business.

Quang Nam province organized a conference to contribute comments on the construction zoning plan (scale 1/2000) of the Duty Free Zone associated with Chu Lai Airport.

To complete the planning project, the Management Board of Economic Zones and Industrial Parks of Quang Nam province proposed to continue reviewing and linking all relevant planning projects within the scope of the study, especially the orientation of the project to Adjust the General Planning for the Construction of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone of Quang Nam province to 2035, with a vision to 2050.

At the same time, synchronize the planning infrastructure between the zoning plan of the Duty Free Zone associated with Chu Lai Airport and other zoning plans that have been and are being implemented. Determine the labor scale, land use targets, social infrastructure and technical infrastructure for the entire planning area...

Contributing opinions at the conference, delegates and consultants emphasized the important significance of the planning of the Duty Free Zone associated with Chu Lai Airport for the development of Quang Nam province.

Therefore, the planning project needs to clarify the layout, adjust the technical planning, and add an assessment of the conditions for forming a duty-free zone.

In addition, the planning project requires the acquisition of a large area of land, affecting many households, so it is necessary to calculate compensation, support and resettlement plans for the people.

The duty-free zone associated with Chu Lai Airport is planned in Nui Thanh district of Quang Nam province.

Mr. Le Tri Thanh - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Nam province said that after collecting opinions, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee will synthesize and report to the provincial leaders, thereby completing the planning project dossier for the Duty Free Zone associated with Chu Lai Airport.

Mr. Le Tri Thanh affirmed that when put into operation, Chu Lai Duty Free Zone will become a multi-purpose logistics center, not only promoting economic growth but also contributing to retaining tourists, creating stable jobs and increasing income for people...

In the concluding announcement at the working session with the Standing Committee of Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assigned Quang Nam province to urgently and proactively implement the investment and exploitation of Chu Lai Airport according to its authority.

In addition, Quang Nam province will coordinate with ministries and branches to review and resolve the handover of land areas for socio-economic development to Quang Nam province in February 2025.

Quang Nam province also calls for investment in exploiting Chu Lai Airport according to the planning and orientation of forming an economic ecosystem and airport urban area. Strive to complete investment procedures in the first 6 months of 2025 and complete the construction of the airport within 2 years.
