The cross-Vietnam train departing from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi for 8 days - 7 nights spent one day in Quang Nam, stopping at Tra Kieu station.

This is a good sign, marking the start of Quang Nam railway tourism in the context of the provincial tourism industry and related parties actively improving infrastructure and building policies to promote railway tourism through the locality.
“Gateways” waiting to be activated
Located in the center of the country and possessing full infrastructure of all types of transportation, Quang Nam has many favorable conditions to improve its capacity to welcome visitors. The first tourists stopping in Tra Kieu recently is a testament to the rapid movement of tourism trends, including rail tourism, and the need for tourism professionals to adapt to seize the opportunity.
In 2024, there was a time when the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Vietnam Railways Corporation were determined to open and welcome the first train to Quang Nam, but for some reasons it could not come true. In 2025, the parties will soon promote this content to extend the journey of the "Central Heritage Train".
Not only railways, Quang Nam also has many other gateways with great potential to diversify the approach of tourists to Quang Nam.
Representatives of Hoiana Complex said that it is necessary to soon promote the development of Chu Lai airport into an international airport. If it becomes a reality, Quang Nam will certainly attract a large number of international visitors, especially in the context that direct flights from some countries including China to the Central region are still quite limited and have not been fully restored as before.
In fact, the need to open direct international flights to Quang Nam is well-founded. In October 2024, Vietjet Air sent a dispatch to the provincial leaders stating that although Chu Lai airport still has some limitations in terms of infrastructure and runways, Vietjet Air sees great potential in developing a network of international flights to Quang Nam.
Accordingly, Vietjet Air requested Quang Nam to make a recommendation to the Central Government to request China to relax regulations on organizing and selling tours to the Central region of Vietnam, and promote the opening of direct flights from major cities in China to Chu Lai airport.
Two other gateways from the sea and the mountains are also expected to create a new momentum for local tourism. A few years ago, a representative of a large tourism company in Ho Chi Minh City affirmed that if Quang Nam oriented to welcome cruise ships and promote accompanying services at Chu Lai port, there would be cruise ships docking there to open a breakthrough for the development of tourism in the southern part of the province.
However, so far, nothing has moved forward and the management agency has not made any new calculations about this proposal. In addition, a project that is being promoted and attracted is the project of a marina in Hoi An. If realized, this will be a focal point to attract high-spending tourists to Quang Nam.
Regarding the Nam Giang International Border Gate, after welcoming a few caravan tours across Indochina, everything is still open. A significant reason comes from the fact that National Highway 14D from the border gate downstream is seriously degraded.
The opening of Tra Kieu tourist gateway has contributed to urging local management agencies to have stronger plans to promote infrastructure of air routes, seaports, border gates, etc. to serve tourism, especially when many localities in the region have recently made great changes in this story.
