China and Russia have agreed to work together on developing wide-body passenger aircraft, Arctic shipping corridors and artificial intelligence (AI) after their leaders vowed to expand cooperation.

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that on December 21, a joint statement after a meeting between Chinese Premier Li Qiang and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin stated: "We will actively promote cooperation projects to jointly develop long-range wide-body passenger aircraft and heavy-lift helicopters."
The statement did not provide further details, but said the two prime ministers agreed to strengthen their "unlimited" strategic partnership and pledged to increase trade and technological cooperation.
In addition, Russia and China also agreed to put the exploration of the Northern Sea Route - a plan to connect the Baltic Sea with the Bering Sea - back on the agenda, as well as further strengthen professional cooperation in Arctic shipping corridors.
Mr. Mishustin arrived in China to hold the 28th regular meeting between the two countries' prime ministers from December 19-20, in the context of Moscow-Beijing relations at an unprecedented high.
According to documents released by both sides, at a meeting with his counterpart Li Qiang, Prime Minister Mishustin affirmed that the relationship between Moscow and Beijing has reached an "all-time high".
During this visit, the Russian Prime Minister also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on December 20.
China's state television (CCTV) reported that at this meeting, Mr. Xi Jinping said: "Maintaining and developing China-Russia relations is a strategic choice made by both sides based on the fundamental interests of the people of the two countries."
The Chinese leader called on the two countries to "continuously amplify the positive effects of high-level political relations" and "strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, energy, connectivity and other fields".
