Secretary of the Russian Security Council Sergei Shoigu
The Global Times reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping received Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu in Beijing on February 28.
Noting that China and Russia are friendly neighbors and true friends, Xi said he and Russian President Vladimir Putin have communicated twice this year, outlined overall plans for the development of China-Russia relations and had in-depth exchanges on a range of important international and regional issues.
The Chinese leader said the two sides should maintain close communication at all levels to fully implement the consensus reached between the two heads of state, promote long-term good-neighborly friendship, comprehensive strategic coordination and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Shoigu conveyed President Putin's warm greetings to President Xi, saying that Mr. Putin highly values his sincere friendship and close relationship with Mr. Xi. According to Mr. Shoigu, the relationship between Russia and China has reached an unprecedented high level and is not aimed at any third party.

During a meeting with Mr. Shoigu on the same day, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the relationship between the two countries was "rock-solid and unshakeable," according to Reuters, citing a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The two sides agreed to hold a new round of strategic security consultations at an appropriate time, according to the statement. This is Mr. Shoigu's second visit to China in the past three months.
In another development, Reuters on February 28 quoted sources as saying that British Energy Minister Ed Miliband will visit China in March to resume dialogue on energy cooperation and meet with Chinese investors.
Mr Miliband is expected to visit Beijing from 17-19 March.
