Tan Ngai Ward, Vinh Long City meets civilized urban standards in 2024

On December 24, 2024, the People's Committee of Vinh Long city, Vinh Long province issued Decision No. 5585/QD-UBND recognizing Tan Ngai ward, Vinh Long city as meeting civilized urban standards in 2024. Up to now, in Vinh Long city, 10/10 wards have met civilized urban standards, reaching a rate of 100%.

Tan Ngai Ward is a suburban area of ​​Vinh Long city, with a natural area of ​​900.8 hectares, the ward has 06 hamlets, 3,122 households with 10,193 people. The political security situation, social order and safety in the area are maintained, social security programs are implemented with attention. These are important conditions and premises for Tan Ngai Ward to implement the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" associated with the campaign "All people unite to build a cultural life, civilized urban areas" in the locality, gradually achieving good results. Along with the attention and direction of Party committees at all levels, local authorities and the active coordination of departments, branches, organizations, the consensus, response and active participation of the whole people, the campaign has aroused and promoted the tradition of solidarity, the will to be self-reliant, the spirit of striving to rise up and determined to build a new life in each household.

The Party Committee and local authorities have directed the implementation according to Decision No. 04/2022/QD-TTg dated February 18, 2022 of the Prime Minister and Decision No. 1074/QD-UBND dated March 13, 2024 on promulgating the plan to implement Decision No. 2849/QD-UBND dated December 12, 2023 of the Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee on the plan to implement Decision No. 04/2022/QD-TTg dated February 18, 2022 of the Prime Minister on the criteria, order and procedures for considering and recognizing civilized urban standards in Vinh Long province. Support the Steering Committees for building cultural life in hamlets to effectively implement the criteria.

Tan Ngai Ward develops its economy according to the structure of trade and services, small-scale industry, and agriculture. Trade and services in the area are quite developed with industries and occupations such as food and beverage services, construction materials, electricity - electronics, lodging, rental houses, etc. Currently, the whole ward has 153 individual commercial and service establishments. The electricity system and basic domestic water supply system meet the daily needs of the people, reaching 100%, the collection and treatment of domestic waste in the area reaches 107.14%. The medical examination and treatment system includes Trieu An - Loan Tram General Hospital, ward health stations, private clinics, etc. serving the people. Regarding education, there are schools from preschool to junior high school: Nguyen Khuyen Junior High School, Nguyen Trung Truc Primary School, Son Ca Tan Ngai Kindergarten. Of which, there are 02 schools that meet national standards level 1 (Nguyen Khuyen Junior High School and Nguyen Trung Truc Primary School); 01 school meets national standards level 2 (Son Ca Kindergarten).

Regarding beliefs and religions, there are 9 religious establishments in the ward, including: Truong An Pagoda, Quan Am Pagoda, Phuoc Thanh Pagoda, Huong Van Pagoda, Binh An Pagoda, Vinh Long Jade Buddha Relic Pagoda, Tan Ngai Baptist Church, Tan Ngai communal house and Holy Mother of the Land Temple. All religious establishments are culturally qualified every year and comply with the annual religious and belief activities program, ensuring order and compliance with the law. Religious followers are in harmony with the ethnic community and always pay attention to the local social security policy. In addition, religious establishments are always supported by the government and organizations, and there is close communication and connection between the local government and religious establishments.

Organizations participate in planting trees and ornamental flowers in residential areas in Tan Ngai ward.

For newly built public works, all are implemented in accordance with planning, have perspective, have harmonious architecture, ensure current construction standards and regulations. Well perform the responsibility of State management on construction; promote the role of community self-management in implementing architectural planning and urban construction. Therefore, urban infrastructure works in the ward are always interested in investment and renovation. Most of the roads are upgraded, renovated, and repaired regularly, meeting and exceeding the set targets. Public works such as committee headquarters, cultural houses, medical stations, schools, markets, etc. are newly built, renovated, and upgraded to ensure standards and regulations, are managed, used for the right purpose and effectively.

Most people are aware of building houses in harmony with the general architecture. In the ward, most of the houses in residential areas and public works are built according to planning, according to the provisions of the law on construction, and the architecture is in harmony with the urban landscape of 3,122/3,122 households. There are no illegal construction works that have to be forced to be demolished.

The traffic system in the ward ensures smooth connection between neighboring communes and wards. At intersections, curves, school areas, markets, hospitals, etc., depending on the level of danger, they are regularly checked and appropriate traffic signals are arranged such as: traffic lights, danger signs, prohibition signs, command signs, directional signs, road markings, etc. 100% of the roads in the ward are paved or concreted according to the plan.

The rate of public trees in the whole ward along the roads and households planting flowers and trees in their family premises, in residential areas to create green spaces for living and working meets the standards. The Ward People's Committee has mobilized organizations and individuals to participate in planting trees and ornamental flowers at agencies, units, residential areas, houses; local political organizations coordinate to carry out projects, tasks and plant flower routes. Currently, 100% of production and business establishments meet the prescribed environmental standards. Business households have done well in ensuring public environmental sanitation, waste, wastewater, and garbage are collected and treated according to regulations; 100% of households have 03 standard sanitary facilities. The whole ward currently has 3,122/3,122 households with toilets, bathrooms, and clean water tanks that meet the standards and ensure 03 clean.

Currently, the ward shares a cultural house of 4 wards located in Tan Hoi ward, Vinh Long city. There are 06 cultural houses combined with the working headquarters of the ward which have been fully equipped with facilities and equipment to ensure work, meetings and serve the entertainment needs of the people. The cultural, artistic, physical education and sports movements are maintained regularly and always focused on investment, program training to participate in competitions, performances at all levels and organize performances to serve the people during the holidays, anniversaries of major holidays and political events of the country and the locality. The ward has 01 art team, 01 amateur music club, 02 health clubs, 01 football team, 01 lion and dragon club, 01 folk dance club, 01 chess club, 01 table tennis club, volleyball club... regularly organizing competitions, exchanges, participating in city-level competitions and performances.

The Party Committee and People's Committee of the ward always pay attention to and promptly grasp the ideological developments among cadres, party members and people, strengthen internal political protection measures, and raise vigilance. Do a good job of propaganda and mobilization of the people, raise awareness for the masses to be vigilant against the plots and tricks of peaceful evolution of hostile forces. There are no cases of signs or organizations of sabotage of key economic, cultural, social and national security targets and projects in the ward.
