DNVN - In the context of increasingly developing trade relations between Russia and Vietnam, understanding the potential and opportunities for exporting Russian goods to the Vietnamese market has become more important than ever. Russian Export Center (REC) plays a key role in supporting and promoting the export activities of Russian enterprises.

The reporter had the opportunity to talk with Mr. Ilya Koltygin - Head of the representative office of the Russian Export Center in Vietnam to better understand the role of this organization and the opportunities and challenges that Russian manufacturers face when approaching the Vietnamese market.

The role of Russian Export Center

Reporter: Sir, could you introduce the Russian Export Center (REC) and the organization's role in supporting the export of Russian goods?

Mr. Ilya Koltygin: REC is an important part of the structure of support and development of export activities of Russian enterprises. We work together with the Russian Export and Investment Credit Insurance Agency, the Export-Import Bank of Russia and the Export School. This cooperation allows us to provide a full range of services to importers around the world: from the initial idea to the final stage, receipt of goods and payment.

Reporter: Sir, how has REC supported the export of Russian goods to other markets? And what are the most notable successes?

Mr. Ilya Koltygin: REC actively supports the promotion of Russian goods on foreign markets through a range of measures, including financial, informational and organizational support. In Vietnam, we assist in finding distributors and assisting in negotiations, as well as finding Russian suppliers for Vietnamese buyers. REC's services are provided free of charge to Vietnamese and Russian companies. In 2024, nearly 700 Russian companies and 60 Vietnamese companies used our services in Vietnam.

Reporter: Can you describe in detail how REC supports exports?

Mr. Ilya Koltygin: REC supports exports by providing preferential credits and guarantees to exporters, we analyze foreign markets and provide recommendations on products suitable for each market. We support the participation of Russian companies in exhibitions, fairs and business events, as well as organize B2B meetings with potential partners in import markets.

Vietnam market potential

Reporter: In your opinion, what is the potential of the Vietnamese market for Russian exports?

Mr. Ilya Koltygin: Russian goods are becoming popular in Vietnam. Almost every store in Vietnam has at least some products from Russia, usually food products such as sunflower oil, confectionery and meat products. Recently, we have seen a growth in cosmetics and pharmaceutical products. These products not only meet the needs of consumers but also contribute to diversifying the Russian goods portfolio in Vietnam.

Reporter: So, which Russian products can be popular in Vietnam and why, sir?

Mr. Ilya Koltygin: Canned food products, chocolate, beverages have promising potential. In addition, the pharmaceutical products sector is also developing. Russian enterprises are gradually introducing more of their products to the Vietnamese market.

Challenges and opportunities of Russian products in Vietnam

Reporter: Sir, what are the main challenges that REC and Russian businesses face when exporting to Vietnam?

Ilya Koltygin: Nowadays, the issue of payments is becoming a well-known challenge for many businesses. REC is constantly working to find and develop new solutions to solve this problem. Although there are already payment options available, it would be great to have more alternatives. And that is what we are focusing on right now.

Reporter: In your opinion, how can REC support Russian businesses to overcome these challenges and take advantage of opportunities in the Vietnamese market?

Mr. Ilya Koltygin: REC organizes monthly seminars on various topics and aspects of exporting to Vietnam. We analyze each step of starting an export, overcoming barriers, product certification features and the peculiarities of the country's business etiquette. These seminars help Russian businesses better understand the market and make the most of its opportunities.

Vision of developing Russian exports to Vietnam

Reporter: Sir, what is REC's goal in developing the export of Russian goods to Vietnam in the coming years?

Mr. Ilya Koltygin: Our expectations for the Vietnamese market are very optimistic. This is reflected in both the growing trade volume and the increasingly close cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas. We hope that Vietnamese consumers will gradually get used to Russian products and gain their interest in the Made in Russia brand in Vietnam.
