In order to review the glorious historical tradition and pay tribute to the heroes who fell for the cause of national liberation and building a peaceful Hanoi, the Ministry of Information and Communications will issue a postage stamp set "Welcoming the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
The stamp set is designed with concise content about Hanoi of the past, present and future.
The stamp set includes 1 stamp and 1 block with face value of 4,000 VND and 15,000 VND, stamp and block size is 32 x 43 mm, 100 x 80 mm. The stamp set was designed by artist Nguyen Quang Vinh.
Artist Nguyen Quang Vinh shared: The stamp set shows the image of Hanoi's flagpole and historical relics throughout the stamp set and block as "historical witnesses" to the changes of Hanoi after 70 years. Hanoi today is the architectural heritage that is preserved and conserved interwoven with modern works that have emerged and are emerging in the country's development process.
The stamp set uses a bright orange background, representing the glorious past of the Capital with images of troops entering the Capital, all the people of Hanoi welcoming them, and the whole of Hanoi filled with the atmosphere of brilliant flags and flowers on the day of liberation.
Besides, the block background with soft blue color is the image of Hanoi today - a peaceful and gentle land.
Artist Nguyen Quang Vinh shared that if in the past Thang Long was associated with the image of a flying dragon, then on today's stamp block, there appears the image of a pair of dragons facing a Bodhi leaf in the sky, showing that Hanoi today is a peaceful, elegant, and hospitable land.
The stamp set also marks the milestones of the Capital such as in 1999: Hanoi was awarded the title "City for Peace" by UNESCO...
Artist Nguyen Quang Vinh added: The stamp set was designed to pay tribute to the soldiers, including my parents, my parents' friends and colleagues who devoted their youth to liberating the capital. This is also a special gift from me to Hanoi - where I was born and raised, and October 10 is also my birthday.
