Many people passing through the inter-village road in Lam Thuy village for the first time cannot help but feel strange and eye-catching. The road is marked with nameplates, houses are right on the road and the alleys are all numbered, making it easy to find a specific address.
"House number 8, Alley 4, inter-village road, Team 7, Lam Thuy village", Ms. Nguyen Thi Tim could not hide her excitement when asked for her home address.
"Naming the streets is very convenient for people from far away to search and contact. Because in the same village, there are many people with the same last name and first name. Therefore, just knowing the information of the person you are looking for on which street and what house number is is much more convenient," Ms. Tim shared.
Mr. Vo Van Tam, an official of Hai Hung commune, led us to "visit" the two named village roads, excitedly saying that this is a project and part of the work to implement the construction of advanced new rural areas that the commune has just been approved by the Provincial People's Committee in May 2024.
At Lam Thuy inter-village road, the commune has installed 55 street and alley name signs, 300 house number plates of 5 teams, repainted 6 welcome gates and built 2 new welcome gates to the teams. For Tra Loc village, 401 house number plates of 10/12 hamlets, 8 security cameras, 30 new flower beds have been built, and the village welcome gate has been repainted.
Two village roads and many alleys are neatly marked with nameplates, each house has a clear address, making it convenient for people to receive information, correspondence, contact, trade and service transactions. At the same time, local authorities can easily determine the residential addresses of households to effectively carry out administrative and population management.

Hai Hung commune was recognized as meeting the NTM standards in 2020. To implement the construction of an advanced NTM commune, the commune has proactively and closely coordinated in mobilizing people to organize the implementation of the criteria.
"We are determined not to passively wait or rely on capital from the higher budget, but to consider which criteria are favorable and implement them first.
"Taking advantage of land auction revenue, mobilizing resources from the people, and enlisting the support of children far from home to invest in building infrastructure, developing production, increasing income, eliminating hunger and reducing poverty, building environmental landscapes, and fundamentally changing the face of the homeland," said Chairman of Hai Hung Commune People's Committee Nguyen Duc Thuyen.
During the implementation process, the Party Committee and the communal government determined that it was necessary to strengthen propaganda work and raise awareness of the meaning, importance, and tasks of the people and the entire political system in building a new rural commune.
With the motto "The State and the People work together", the commune has built new and repaired traffic works, irrigation canals, cultural facilities, and schools. It has launched an economic development movement, implemented model gardens, and raised awareness about converting crops and livestock to increase economic value.
Typical examples include the HN6 commercial rice production model of Lam Thuy Cooperative in association with Thua Thien Hue Plant and Animal Seed Joint Stock Company, which has developed well and has issued a regional code for safe food rice products; the cajuput oil planting and processing model of Gia Huy facility in Thuan Chanh An village; the model garden model according to the provincial standards of Mr. Nguyen Van Thi's household in Lam Thuy village and Mr. Cap Van Hien in Tra Loc village.
Some local agricultural products have origin traceability stamps such as Le Uyen seaweed peanut salt, Hai Hung lotus, and Lam Thuy rice varieties.
With the focus on investing in repairing traffic infrastructure and cultural institutions to build advanced new rural areas, in recent times, Hai Hung commune has also expanded and upgraded 27 village and hamlet roads, built more than 6km of rural roads, and upgraded 7 model roads of villages and hamlets. People have donated 15,162m2 of land for the commune to build 3 sports fields for the teams.
Thanks to good propaganda and mobilization work, people have responded with agreement and enthusiastically participated in contributing funds, working days, and donating land. Many households have built and renovated houses, fences, gates, renovated mixed gardens, repaired livestock barns, etc., creating a spacious new rural area.
Along with the attention to investment in economic development, the commune has also focused on the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" associated with building new rural areas, which has received positive responses from the people. Up to now, Hai Hung has been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as an advanced new rural commune; democratic regulations have been promoted, and the political system has become increasingly strong.
Determining that building a new rural area has a starting point and no ending point, Hai Hung continues to strive to build a model new rural commune. Currently, the commune is strengthening propaganda and mobilizing people to build a new rural area in conjunction with the campaign "The whole country joins hands to build a new rural area and civilized urban areas". Continue to review the advanced criteria to maintain and promote guiding solutions for sustainable development.
Focus on mobilizing all resources to build and improve rural areas, build model residential areas, and smart village models associated with digital transformation. Direct production development to improve people's lives, complete key local crop and livestock production areas, and focus on building a truly livable new-style rural area.
