On March 6, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) officially received public assets from Binh Phuoc College to establish the HCMUTE branch. This opens up opportunities for higher education development, helping Binh Phuoc province supplement human resources for local development in the future.
Binh Phuoc is a fast-growing locality - especially in the fields of industry and high-tech agriculture. However, the need for high-quality human resources remains a major challenge for the locality. The opening of a branch in Binh Phuoc by Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) not only helps the locality take the initiative in training human resources, but also contributes to improving competitiveness, attracting investment and developing the local economy. HCMUTE's branch in Binh Phuoc is expected to bring practical benefits to learners, businesses and the overall development of the province.

On December 24, 2024, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son signed Decision No. 4199/QD-BGDDT, approving the policy of establishing HCMUTE Branch in Binh Phuoc province. This is the result of close exchange and coordination between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education and Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee over the past 6 months.
According to Ms. Tran Tuyet Minh - Vice Chairman of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee: The establishment of HCMUTE branch is a great desire of the local people and students. Every year, Binh Phuoc has 43% of students taking entrance exams to universities and colleges nationwide. And, the province has conducted a survey with 20,000 12th grade students about their wishes, and 55% of them wish to study at university in Binh Phuoc.
Besides, there is the need of students from neighboring provinces of Binh Phuoc. Receiving the training quality of a HCMUTE school with 62 years of establishment and development, is the desire of the government, people and students in the province.

The operation of the Branch not only opens up opportunities for high-quality university study locally but also helps reduce pressure on major universities in Ho Chi Minh City.
The People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province has committed to handing over 9 hectares of land and existing facilities for HCMUTE to build a branch. At the same time, the province is also planning to report to the Ministry of Finance on policies to support local students studying at the branch.
"With the goal of win-win cooperation between the two sides, the event of receiving public assets marks an important step in the process of establishing a branch of HCMUTE in Binh Phuoc province. The establishment of the branch not only helps expand the school's training network, but also contributes to improving the quality of education, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources of the locality and neighboring areas" - Ms. Minh said.

Previously, at the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement for the 2024 - 2027 period between HCMUTE and the People's Committee of Binh Phuoc province held on October 3, 2024, the two sides agreed on the roadmap to establish and put the HCMUTE Branch in Binh Phuoc into operation in the first quarter of 2025.
Dr. Truong Thi Hien - Chairwoman of the HCMMUTE Council - affirmed: "The establishment of the HCMMUTE branch in Binh Phuoc is a key task in the 2024 - 2025 school year. The school quickly completed the project and received high consensus from the School Council, with 100% of votes in favor. Dr. In just 6 months, the steps to complete legal documents were accelerated, demonstrating high determination from both sides.

With enthusiastic support from the Binh Phuoc provincial government and the Ministry of Education and Training, the HCMUTE branch in Binh Phuoc is expected to organize enrollment and officially operate in early 2025. This is an important step, opening up opportunities to train high-quality human resources for Binh Phuoc, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and meeting the great expectations of local people."
According to Dr. Truong Thi Hien: The teaching staff will be mobilized from the main campus of HCMUTE; new recruitment and guest lecturers will meet the prescribed standards. According to the roadmap, the HCMUTE branch has a total investment of about 341 billion VND in the 2024-2036 period; the training scale until 2036 is about 5,900 students. Of which, there are 2,800 full-time students.
HCMUTE is known as one of the leading public universities in Vietnam, in training technology engineers and fostering technical human resources; adapting to the labor market, scientific research and serving production in the fields of professional education and science and technology.
