The "Shark Jaw" commercial center building at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square will be demolished. This is the conclusion of Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan at the meeting to consider the design and renovation plan of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi).

The “Shark Jaw” building (No. 7 Dinh Tien Hoang) has a beautiful, prime location in Hanoi. The front of the building faces Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square, the left side faces Hoan Kiem Lake, surrounded by walking streets. This is also one of the famous buildings in the capital. On holidays, fireworks, and major events held at Hoan Kiem Lake, people have to spend a lot of money to choose a seat in the building.

On March 5, the Office of the Hanoi People's Committee signed a document announcing the conclusion of Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan at a meeting to review the design and renovation plan for Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square, Hoan Kiem District.

Accordingly, the Hanoi People's Committee approved the idea and solution for organizing the architectural landscape space of Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square area as a basis for researching the investment project to renovate, embellish and reconstruct this area. The "Shark Jaw" building was built from 1991 to 1993, this project started in the early 1990s and is located on the land of the old tram station.

This building has a unique architecture with a roof that protrudes like a shark's jaw, creating a special highlight in the center of the capital. The building is 6 stories high, from the 2nd to the 6th floor are restaurants and cafes with different styles.

The 6th floor has a panoramic view of Hoan Kiem Lake and several streets such as Hang Gai, Cau Go and Dinh Liet.

This also acts as a tourist destination, attracting thousands of tourists to visit Hanoi.

Foreign tourists sit drinking coffee and admiring the beautiful view of Hoan Kiem Lake.

Ms. Linh (Ninh Binh) said that this was the first time she went to the cafe on the "Shark Jaw" building and was very impressed with the view from above. "From here, I can have a panoramic view of Hoan Kiem Lake, The Huc Bridge and the bustling old streets. If this building is demolished, I will feel very regretful, because this is not only an ideal sightseeing spot but also associated with the memories of many people when coming to Hanoi," Ms. Linh said.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung (a long-time security guard at a store in the "Shark Jaw" building) expressed regret at the proposal to demolish this building. "Although it is regrettable, if it helps the landscape of the area become more beautiful and is consistent with the general planning, I will support it," Mr. Hung said.

Located in the heart of the bustling capital, this area is crowded with residents and tourists, creating an ideal environment for restaurants and cafes to develop their business and attract a huge number of customers every day. Dong Kinh - Nghia Thuc Square has long been a familiar destination for the people of the capital, where cultural and artistic events and exciting community activities are regularly held.
