Accordingly, the average income per capita in Chau Thanh district reached nearly 61 million VND/person/year.
Only by being present in Chau Thanh district (Soc Trang province) in the days after the Lunar New Year of At Ty can one fully feel the joy of the people here.
Mr. Tran Kim Tam, residing in Giong Chua A hamlet, An Hiep commune, Chau Thanh district (Soc Trang province) clearly expressed his joy at the locality's transformation.
"Recently, Chau Thanh has just been announced the Prime Minister's Decision recognizing the district as meeting new rural standards," said Mr. Tam, adding that everyone here is joining hands to build their homeland to become more and more prosperous.

According to Mr. Tam, his hometown is what it is today thanks to the close leadership and direction of the province, the determination and efforts of the Party Committee, the government and the people in the district. Since then, the local socio-economic sectors have achieved quite comprehensive results, the people's lives have changed and improved continuously, and the quality of life is getting better and better.
"Now it's easy for people to visit the fields or go to the farm because the roads have been completed. Along this road, people have almost built spacious houses," Mr. Tam pointed to the new rural road in front of his house and expressed his joy.

Many effective production models have been built, such as hydroponic melon growing, apple growing, vegetable growing in greenhouses... closed-technology farm livestock models... helping to increase the average production value per hectare of agricultural land to 152 million VND by 2023; average income per capita in rural areas reaches nearly 61 million VND.
Ms. Son Thi Xinh, residing in Sa Bau hamlet, Thuan Hoa commune, Chau Thanh district, said that since she decided to switch to growing rose apples and raising frogs on her family's 3-hectare rice field, the initial economic efficiency has been clearly seen.

With her savings, Ms. Xinh said that she recently decided to spend hundreds of millions of dong to build a spacious house for her family members to live in.
Chau Thanh district authorities said that the district has a large population of ethnic minorities, with the Khmer accounting for nearly 48%, the Kinh accounting for 49% and the Chinese accounting for 3%. After 13 years of building a new rural area, the lives of the people in general and the Khmer in particular have been constantly changing, in particular, the rate of poor and near-poor households has decreased to only 3%.
Mr. Nguyen Van My - Vice Chairman of Chau Thanh District People's Committee (Soc Trang Province) said that recently, the district has focused on mobilizing resources, first of all from project programs, including programs on new rural areas and programs on ethnic minorities.
"Through these two programs, we have supported the construction of rural infrastructure, supported people in implementing seeds, materials, implementing production models, poverty reduction policies... to contribute to helping people strive to escape poverty. In addition, the spirit and will to self-reliantly escape poverty of the people is also one of the bright spots of the district," Mr. My added.
Chau Thanh district is currently investing in a fairly complete transportation, irrigation, and school system; cultural facilities are invested in to meet the entertainment, physical education, and sports needs of the people; security and order are ensured, creating conditions for the people to continue working together to build their homeland to be more and more spacious and clean.
