Kinhtedothi - On the morning of December 25, Thang Long Water Puppetry Theater solemnly celebrated its 55th anniversary (October 10, 1969 - October 10, 2024) and received the Third Class Labor Medal.
Before the ceremony, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong came to present flowers and congratulate the cadres, artists, actors and staff of the Thang Long Puppetry Theater.
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong and Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha.
In his commemorative speech, Meritorious Artist Tran Thanh Hien - Director of Thang Long Puppetry Theatre emphasized that in 1969, Thang Long Puppetry Theatre was established as an art unit with the function of performing puppetry (land puppetry and water puppetry); collecting, preserving and promoting the value of traditional puppetry art in Thang Long - Hanoi.
Over the past 55 years, through many ups and downs, generations of leaders, artists, actors, and staff of the theater have always united together to cultivate virtue, train talent, persevere and be creative in art, bringing the theater and Thang Long puppetry art to constantly develop and shine more and more.
Thanks to that, Thang Long Puppetry Theatre has not only become an increasingly attractive destination for domestic and international tourists but also promoted and left a deep impression on the unique traditional art of Vietnamese water puppetry to audiences in more than 40 countries around the world... In particular, up to now, Thang Long Puppetry Theatre has had continuous performances 365 days a year, becoming the leading brand of Vietnamese puppetry art.
“On the new journey, along with the development of the country and the capital, Thang Long Puppetry Theatre always maintains the spirit of innovation, creativity and attachment to the roots of national culture, promoting the fine traditions of the unit, bringing the theatre to continue to reach far, so that Vietnamese puppetry art not only lasts and develops, but also becomes a special cultural brand of the country” - Meritorious Artist Tran Thanh Hien affirmed.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong acknowledged the achievements that Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre has achieved over the past 55 years. At the same time, he affirmed that with the contributions of many generations of artists, the theatre has become one of the most successful traditional art units in the capital; a unit that actively contributes to the implementation of Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee on the development of the capital's cultural industry in the period of 2021-2025, towards 2030, with a vision to 2045.
Entering 2025 and the next period, the Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports requested that Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre strive to exceed and fully fulfill the targets and tasks of the Department of Culture and Sports; continue to be the "flagship" of the capital's traditional arts.
The theater must be creative and develop unique and rich puppetry art programs imbued with the cultural identity of Thang Long - Hanoi. At the same time, adapt to contemporary art trends to contribute to improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people, domestic and international tourists, gradually developing the cultural industry market, promoting the socio-economic development of the capital, and contributing to the cultural sector in building a cultural industry center and cultural space of Hanoi.
In addition, continue to organize well the important activities of the Capital and the country in 2025, be ready to participate in the common foreign affairs activities organized by the City at home and abroad, to contribute to spreading cultural values, national identity, promoting the image of Vietnam in the international arena, and arousing the solidarity of the Vietnamese community abroad.
On this occasion, Thang Long Puppetry Theatre was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal, recognizing the theater's positive contributions to the cause of building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
