Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre received the Third Class Labor Medal

With contributions to the national art, Thang Long Rain Opera House received the Third Labor Medal on December 25.

Water puppetry - an art form born around the 11th century in the Red River Delta has become a symbol of traditional art, a unique intangible cultural heritage of the Vietnamese people.

Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre received the Third Class Labor Medal on December 25.

To preserve and promote the value of this special cultural heritage, on October 10, 1969, Thang Long Puppetry Theatre was established, with the function of performing puppetry art (land puppetry and water puppetry); collecting, preserving and promoting the value of traditional puppetry art of Thang Long - Hanoi.

" Over the past 55 years with many ups and downs, there were times when it seemed impossible to overcome difficulties to survive and develop, but generations of leaders, artists, actors, and staff of the Theater have united, together cultivating virtue, practicing talent, being persistent and creative in artistic work to bring the Theater and Thang Long puppetry art to increasingly develop and shine.

Thanks to that, Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre has not only become an attractive destination for domestic and international tourists, but also promoted and left a deep impression on the unique traditional art of Vietnamese water puppetry to audiences in more than 40 countries around the world, from Asia to Europe, America...

In particular, up to now, Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre has continuous performances 365 days a year, becoming the leading brand of Vietnamese water puppetry art" , Meritorious Artist Thanh Hien - Director of Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre said.

Thang Long Puppetry Theatre has just won the Gold Medal at the 2024 Hanoi Open Theatre Festival with the play "The Emperor of Reed Flags".

With its contributions to the country's art, Thang Long Puppetry Theatre received the Third Class Labor Medal - a noble award that the Party and State have awarded to the Theatre, recognizing the Theatre's positive contributions to the cause of building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
