From 22:30 to 23:30 (Vietnam time) on March 5, after more than an hour of global problems, Meta services using Facebook accounts were able to log back in. However, the problem has not been completely resolved and until now, March 6, many people are still having difficulty logging back in.
In the above case, users will usually re-enter their password to access Facebook, but most choose another way, "Forgot password" and there will be many options such as authentication via email, via registered phone number...
But this time Facebook requires authentication via another device (in case the user uses one account on multiple devices), which makes it difficult for those who only use Facebook on one device; Email also cannot authenticate re-logging into Facebook; Or Facebook notifies that the login code is sent to the WhatsApp application, not the registered mobile number, which makes it difficult for users because not everyone uses this application.
According to Mr. Vu Ngoc Son, Technology Director, Vietnam National Cyber Security Technology Company, Facebook has basically been restored, but users need to be extremely vigilant against "copycat" services whose goal is nothing more than to scam and attack users.
“Normally, hackers will be very “sensitive” to events like this, there will be many forms of imitation such as “instructions for logging into Facebook when encountering errors”, “the fastest way to recover passwords”... being given. If not vigilant, users can follow the instructions and access fraudulent websites, thereby losing account information and passwords”, Mr. Vu Ngoc Son shared.
To prevent scammers from taking advantage, users need to stay calm, not rush to log back in or recover their passwords immediately, but should wait for the service provider to issue a notification to resolve the problem.
