Following the success of Soai ca Meo Mai Ngoi and Nong trang Hoa Dau Biec , writer Gia Bao continues to conquer young readers with the cross-state adventure of the cat Louis. In Summer with Snow , Louis is an intelligent, affectionate cat who always accompanies his little owner Mami - a Vietnamese student studying abroad in the US.
With an innocent and authentic voice from Louis' perspective, the book leads readers into everyday stories mixed with exciting long trips. In particular, Louis' experience of snow in the middle of summer is not only a geographical discovery but also a metaphor for the joys and surprises in life.

With a delicate pen, writer Gia Bao creates a world rich in emotions with vivid details such as the smell of baked goods on Mami, her grandfather's blanket or the image of a cat curled up like a pot of braised fish. The story also cleverly incorporates elements of Vietnamese culture and American lifestyle, shown through the way Mami and Louis communicate using food signals - a unique and interesting feature.
The atmosphere of the story brings warmth, simplicity mixed with nostalgia. The affection between Louis and Mami, the reunion with his sister Loli or the memory of his grandfather all make readers emotional. Although there are sad moments, such as when Mami misses her hometown, the story still maintains an optimistic, bright spirit.

At the exchange, poet Tran Quoc Toan commented that Snowy Summer is a gentle but profound spiritual gift. “The work helps children understand that love has no boundaries, whether geographical distance or species differences,” he shared.

Meanwhile, journalist Luu Dinh Trieu also highly appreciated Gia Bao's emotional storytelling: "The author is very skillful in turning everyday details such as the smell of baked goods, an old blanket or a hug into memorable memories for young readers."

For her part, writer Gia Bao said that the motivation to write Snowy Summer came from the desire to preserve simple happy moments with relatives and friends, through the perspective of the little cat Louis. “I hope that when children read the book, they will learn to appreciate the seemingly small things around them, because they are what create warmth and meaning in life,” she confided.

Through Louis’ journey, the author has conveyed many beautiful messages about family affection, friendship and love for animals. The book also leaves its mark thanks to the cultural exchange between Vietnam and the US, helping children both explore the world and love familiar values in life.
