(GLO)- In addition to protecting the environment, the “Green House” and “100-VND House” models for collecting waste implemented by associations and unions in Ia Pa district also raise funds to support children in difficult circumstances. Warm stories of humanity are also written from there.
Replicating the model
Every day, waste materials such as cans, plastic bottles, scrap paper, etc. are often thrown away after use, which is both wasteful and harmful to the environment. Based on that reality, in early 2021, the Women's Union of Kim Tan commune launched the "Green House" model.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Nuong - Chairwoman of the Commune Women's Union, to mobilize the cooperation of the whole community, the "Green House" is located in public places such as the Commune People's Committee headquarters, school gates and in the near future, the market gate. Since its launch, the "Green House" of the Commune Women's Union has collected and sold scrap 4 times, earning more than 2 million VND. This money is used to help 2 children in difficult circumstances.

Similarly, in January 2023, the Ia Tul Commune Youth Union launched the "Green House for Collecting Waste" to raise funds to implement the "smart mass mobilization" model to sponsor children in difficult circumstances. In addition to collecting plastic waste right at the office, at each meeting, union members and young people also bring recyclable waste to support. In addition, every month, the Commune Youth Union Executive Committee collects additional donations from shops and cafes in the commune, combined with propaganda and mobilizing people to participate in preventing plastic waste and protecting the environment.
With the same purpose, in April 2023, the Ia Kdam Commune Veterans Association deployed the "100 Dong House" model. The model was highly appreciated by the Party Committee, the Commune People's Committee and the District Veterans Association and received enthusiastic support from veteran members.
Mr. Kpa Hoang, Chairman of the Commune Veterans Association, said: “The Association summarizes the results of the “100 Dong House” quarterly, and the first collection is expected to be at the end of June. We are coordinating with schools in the commune to find out and count students in difficult circumstances to support them in buying books, notebooks, and school supplies to prepare for the new school year. In the coming time, depending on the additional resources mobilized from benefactors, the Association can support bicycles to help children have a means of transportation to school.”
Spread good deeds
According to Ms. Ksor H'Mrơn - Deputy Secretary of the Ia Tul Commune Youth Union, thanks to everyone's cooperation, in the first quarter of 2023, from selling recycled waste, the Commune Youth Union supported 2 sponsored students with 300,000 VND/child. In the second quarter, thanks to additional financial support from the generous donors, the Commune Youth Union supported 500,000 VND/child.
As one of the two students sponsored by the Ia Tul Commune Youth Union, Rah Lan Trieu (To Khe village) happily shared: “Not only was I supported with necessities, this year, preparing to enter first grade, I was given a school bag, books and necessary school supplies by the Youth Union members. They also enthusiastically taught me how to read and write, and told me fairy tales. I promise to study well so as not to let down the help of my brothers and sisters.”

Thanks to the help of the Women's Union of Kim Tan commune, Ms. Nay H'Nghit (Mo Nang 2 hamlet) became an "acquaintance" of the "Green House". In 2022, her husband passed away due to drowning, leaving behind her and 3 young children. The family, which was already considered poor, became even more difficult after the incident. Given her family's situation, the Women's Union of the commune regularly cared for her and gave her gifts from the "Green House" fund and support from philanthropists.
“Before each gift giving, the Commune Women's Union always learns about my and my children's wishes and desires to have a suitable plan to help. Every time I have used plastic bottles, I save them for the "Green House". I hope that many women and children will be supported like me and my children" - Ms. H'Nghit confided.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Ksor Suy, Vice Chairman of the Ia Pa District People's Committee, affirmed that the model of waste collection houses implemented by the district's associations and unions has both raised awareness of plastic waste prevention and environmental protection and created a source of funding to support poor children. In the coming time, the District People's Committee will direct localities to replicate the model, contributing to the implementation of environmental criteria in new rural construction, while ensuring social security in the locality, creating conditions for disadvantaged children to integrate into the community and have the motivation to improve their lives.
