In Bao Lac district, Cao Bang province, this tree is planted around the stilt houses of the ethnic minorities. This is also a familiar tree to the ethnic minorities in the northern mountainous region.
Local people often tell each other the saying "Dong Khe girls, Bao Lac pears", meaning the petals are as pure white as a girl's skin.

Over time, pear trees not only yield fruit but also become a companion to the people.
Xuan Truong Commune, Bao Lac District has 4 ethnic groups living together. Every stilt house here, whether of Mong, Dao, Tay or Nung ethnic groups, has pear trees, some families have dozens of pear trees.
Mrs. Lanh Thi Va, 79 years old this year, said: "When I got married, my parents were poor and had nothing to give their daughter as a dowry, only a few pear trees brought from my parents' house. My husband planted them in the garden, and for many years the trees have always borne fruit."
Every fruit season, people here pick the fruit and place it on the altar, burn incense for their ancestors as a way to remember and preserve traditional culture.

Although the economic efficiency is not high, Xuan Truong people still preserve and develop pear and bamboo gardens. Each pear tree in the garden is associated with a story and a memory. Preserving the garden is also a reminder for children and grandchildren to not forget the merits of their parents.
At this time, each pure white flower intertwines with red buds to create a very unique image, signaling the upcoming pear blossom season.
