On the morning of October 6 (August 22, Quy Mao year), at Lam Kinh special national relic site (Lam Son town, Tho Xuan), Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee solemnly organized Lam Kinh festival 2023, commemorating the 605th anniversary of Lam Son uprising, 595th anniversary of King Le Thai To's coronation, and 590th anniversary of the death of National Hero Le Loi.
The 200-hectare Lam Kinh National Special Relic Site (located in Tho Xuan District, Thanh Hoa Province) is where hero Le Loi raised the flag of uprising against the invading Ming army. After the victory in 1428, Le Loi took the reign name Le Thai To and named the country Dai Viet.
Every year, on the 22nd day of the 8th lunar month, Thanh Hoa province holds a festival to commemorate the great contributions of National Hero Le Loi.
Folklore has passed down the saying: "Twenty-one Le Lai, twenty-two Le Loi", to remind and urge the Vietnamese people to turn to Lam Kinh to show gratitude to the merits of Thai To Cao Hoang De - the one who had great merit in the cause of repelling the Ming invaders, gaining independence for the country, and establishing the Later Le dynasty that lasted more than 360 years of history.
At the ceremony, Thanh Hoa provincial leaders and delegates offered incense to pay respect to Emperor Thai To Cao at Lam Kinh National Special Relic Site.
The Lam Kinh Festival 2023 began with the procession of King Le Thai To's palanquin and Trung Tuc Vuong Le Lai's palanquin from King Le Thai To's temple and Trung Tuc Vuong Le Lai's temple to the main dragon yard of Lam Kinh.
In the solemn and jubilant atmosphere of the grand festival day at Lam Kinh National Special Relic Site, Mr. Do Minh Tuan, Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, beat the drum to open the festival.
Delegates, local leaders, people and tourists from all over the country attended the opening ceremony of Lam Kinh festival in 2023.
From early morning, people from all over the province and outside the province came to attend the opening ceremony, watching art programs recreating the life of national hero Le Loi and the Lam Son uprising.
Lam Kinh main dragon yard is where festival activities take place.
The traditional ceremony of reading the memorial and commemorating the merits of Emperor Thai To Cao Hoang De, the kings, the Queen Mother of the Le Dynasty, the mandarins and the generals of the Lam Son uprising army took place solemnly in the dragon yard in front of Lam Kinh main hall.
The festival part of Lam Kinh Festival 2023 is a special live stage art program with the theme "Lam Son Uprising - a brilliant mark" with the participation of more than 250 singers, actors, artisans, students from art troupes inside and outside the province.
In 1416, at Lung Nhai, Le Loi and 18 talented and trusted generals held a ceremony to swear an oath to fight against the Ming invaders, regain the country, and free the people from slavery (Excerpt from "Lung Nhai Oath" was reproduced in the art program).
The art program recreated a heroic historical period and the great contributions and achievements of the cloth hero Le Loi, his generals and people in the uprising against the invading Ming army.
People and tourists from all over the world "brave the sun" to visit Lam Kinh National Special Relic Site on the opening day of the festival.
Mr. Vu Hong Son, from Ha Trung district, Thanh Hoa, said that every year on the occasion of the festival, he and his wife return to offer incense. "I was deeply moved when I returned to my hometown on the occasion of Lam Kinh Festival, to pay my respects to National Hero Le Loi and the kings, mandarins, and generals of the Le dynasty who contributed to fighting the enemy and building the country," Mr. Son shared.
Due to the large number of people attending the festival, police and traffic inspectors coordinated to direct and regulate traffic on the main roads leading to the festival area.
There are at least 4 inter-sectoral checkpoints to direct traffic and guide vehicles and people entering and leaving the Lam Kinh Special National Relic Site.
