Opening the series of events, the program will take place in the capital Pretoria (South Africa) on September 14-15, marking the first time Vietnam Day Abroad is held in South Africa in particular and Africa in general. The program will carry out many activities such as: Vietnamese cultural space, art performance program combined with the celebration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Vietnam - South Africa business discussion...
After South Africa, France and Japan will be the next destinations for the Vietnam Day Abroad 2023 event series. The programs are expected to be held in November and December on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Vietnam establishing diplomatic relations with these two countries.
In addition to activities of political significance, Vietnam Day Abroad 2023 also organizes many seminars and forums to promote economy, trade and investment; performances and interactive exchanges imbued with Vietnamese culture, notably the Vietnamese Cultural Space with the theme "Origin, vitality and continuity".
Also at the press conference, Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, Director of Dong Do Performance and Event Services Joint Stock Company, said that the performances in the art program in South Africa are built according to a story line called Vietnamese Colors , connected through stories spanning from north to south.
The colors of Vietnam are different in each region and are also the stories of intangible cultural heritages recognized by UNESCO. The story takes people back to a day in Vietnam, from the early morning dawn in the northern mountains to the hustle and bustle of the southern lands.
"Not focusing on language but mainly using music to express is the way the program helps South Africans understand and feel Vietnamese culture from regions from north to south," Ms. Yen added.
This year, the Vietnamese Cultural Space in South Africa will gather many young artisans and cultural practitioners, bringing highly interactive and experiential activities such as making lacquer paintings and Dong Ho folk paintings, making to he toys, trying on and taking photos with Nguyen Dynasty costumes, and experiencing Vietnamese cuisine.
In addition, the Vietnam Cultural Space also displays photo exhibitions on diplomatic relations, photo exhibitions on heritage, the country and people of Vietnam, thereby portraying the image of a friendly, rich-in-identity Vietnam to international friends.
With the emergence of new elements, Vietnam Day Abroad 2023 is expected to create a distinct highlight of a Vietnamese culture with a long tradition that continues to rise strongly with youthful, modern vitality.
