According to CNN, at a press conference held by the Pennsylvania State Police, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) determined that the shooting in Pennsylvania was an attempt to assassinate former US President Donald Trump. The shooter was identified as a 20-year-old man from Pennsylvania, whose identity has not been disclosed.
FBI Pittsburgh crime scene investigator Kevin Rojek announced: "We have witnessed an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump."
Mr. Rojek also said that authorities are working hard to identify the individual and motive behind the assassination, and called on people to provide useful information to investigators.
Meanwhile, CNBC reported that Donald Trump has left Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler, Pennsylvania after undergoing a medical examination there. CNN quoted Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as saying that Donald Trump has also left Butler.
"Under the protection of the US Secret Service and the assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police, former President Donald Trump has left the Butler City area," Josh Shapiro wrote on social network X. Pennsylvania State Police will also hold a press conference about the shooting of Donald Trump on July 14.
Earlier, the White House said that US President Joe Biden had a phone conversation with Mr. Donald Trump after the shooting.
In a statement on the shooting, President Biden stressed that this was an act that everyone should condemn, and confirmed that he had spoken to Mr. Trump after the incident.
Mr. Biden affirmed that such incidents cannot continue. The US President is currently waiting for more information before officially calling this attack a failed assassination attempt on Mr. Donald Trump.
