A Vietnamese student achieved the highest math score in the world.

On March 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training in collaboration with EMG Education Group held a ceremony to award Pearson Edexcel International General Certificates, including iPrimary International Primary Certificate, iLowerSecondary International Secondary Certificate and International GCSE to more than 700 students studying the integrated English program in Ho Chi Minh City, and at the same time commended the students for their excellent achievements in the Pearson Edexcel International General Certificate 2024 exam.

The achievements honored at the ceremony are not only a source of joy and pride for teachers, students and parents, but also a strong testament to the results of a program that the city has consistently implemented over the past 10 years.

Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training and EMG Education awarded certificates to students with high scores.

The success of the program has created breakthroughs in English teaching and learning in Ho Chi Minh City and is the foundation for expansion nationwide, contributing to realizing the goal of making English the second language in schools in the spirit of Conclusion 91-KL/TW and Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

In the Pearson Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education Exam - awarded by the largest examination board in the UK, Pearson Edexcel in 2024, students of grades 5, 9, and 11 of the integrated English program achieved many high achievements compared to their friends in the region and around the world.

Specifically, in Mathematics, 99% of students achieved results at all three levels, of which 80% achieved good or higher. At the secondary level, 74% of students achieved good and excellent Math scores, much higher than the global average of 49%.

In addition, 100% of high school students taking the International GCSE achieved results in all three subjects: English, Mathematics and Science. Of these, the percentage of students achieving a perfect score in Mathematics was 35%, higher than the global rate of 20%.

In English as a Second Language (ESL), the percentage of students achieving excellent grades was 54%, higher than the global rate of 24%, and the percentage of students achieving excellent grades in Science was 54%, higher than the global rate of 36%.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City and representatives of EMG Education awarded certificates to two students with the highest scores in the Pearson Edexcel Certificate Exam.

The 2024 Pearson Edexcel International Examinations continued to recognize individuals with outstanding achievements, such as 11 students winning Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards - Students with the highest scores in Vietnam in each subject and 33 students winning Excellence Awards - Students with Excellent scores in all 3 subjects Math, English, Science.

The ceremony also specially honored the two students with the highest achievements: Tran Ha Thanh Truc (student of Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted) achieved a perfect score of 9 (on the international scale from 1 to 9) for all 3 subjects, including the highest score in Vietnam for English; Van Hoang Minh Anh (student of Le Quy Don Middle School) achieved the highest score in Math in the world.
