After nearly 7 years of launching, the model of "Veterans' Association (VCA) Crime Prevention and Control Club" in Phong Thanh commune (Gia Rai town) has promoted positive effects in many fields, honored to be recognized as a typical example by the Ministry of Public Security and replicated nationwide.

Multifaceted effectiveness
Since its inception, the Phong Thanh Commune Crime Prevention and Control Association Club has had positive effects in many areas. In the period of 2021 - 2023 alone, members of the "Crime Prevention and Control Association Club" model have coordinated with the police force to organize more than 1,500 patrols to ensure security and order, disband 700 groups of young people gathering to cause public disorder; provided many sources of information to help the police force eradicate more than 50 social evils, 40 cases of using electric shock to illegally catch aquatic products. At the same time, they have propagated and mobilized people to hand over 8 military weapons, 39 rudimentary weapons, 37 support tools, and 82 bullets of various types.
In particular, the Club members have promoted their personal experiences, effectively supported the police force in managing the area, promptly provided nearly 400 valuable sources of information to help the police force detect, fight, and eliminate hundreds of cases related to security and order. In addition, the Club members have also demonstrated their prestige and voice by becoming the center for reconciling dozens of conflicts and disputes among the people, helping to strengthen the relationship between the village and the neighborhood, and have been wholeheartedly trusted and supported by the local government and people.
Mr. Tran Hoi - Chairman of the Phong Thanh Commune Crime Prevention and Control Association of War Veterans said that the Executive Committee always identifies prevention as the main task, combining propaganda with detection and denunciation of crimes and violations of the law. As prestigious war veterans in the locality, the members are extremely favorable in contacting, mobilizing and propagating to neighbors, especially in managing bad teenagers so that they do not violate the law, as well as resolving conflicts and disputes among the people. Not only that, the Club also actively coordinates with the Commune Police force in the fight against and prevention of crimes and social evils.
After 7 years of operation, the Phong Thanh Commune Crime Prevention and Control Association of War Veterans has truly become an "extended arm" of the police force in building and developing the movement of All People Protecting National Security at the grassroots level. Thanks to that, the security and order situation in the area has always been maintained, crimes and social evils have been pushed back, people's lives have been constantly improved, the appearance of the countryside has been significantly improved, contributing to building an increasingly beautiful homeland.
Replication and national typicality
Currently, the model of "War Veterans Association Club for Crime Prevention and Control" has been replicated in 57/64 communes, wards and towns in the whole Bac Lieu province, with more than 3,300 members participating, thereby contributing to raising awareness, sense of responsibility, creating consensus among members and people of all walks of life on the policy of building new rural areas, ensuring security and order in the area.
Sectors, party committees at all levels, and local authorities always pay attention, encourage, support, and create all favorable conditions to improve the quality and effectiveness of the models, especially the model of "War Veterans Association Club for Crime Prevention and Control", in which, focusing on promoting positive factors as the "nucleus" to gather and gather members to participate, making the model increasingly developed.
The Department of Building the Movement to Protect National Security, Ministry of Public Security highly appreciated the results of the activities of the model "CVD Association Club for Crime Prevention and Control" of Phong Thanh commune in particular and 57 communes, wards and towns in Bac Lieu province in general in the past time. The Ministry also suggested that the model should continue to promote propaganda, raise awareness, sense of responsibility, create consensus among members and people of all walks of life on the policy of building new rural areas, ensuring local security and order; regularly maintain activities, promote democracy at the grassroots level so that people can actively participate in building a clean and strong Party and government at all levels.
