My mother said 'don't appear in the media anymore'

As a guest on the podcast Tee&Tea , Miss Mai Phuong Thuy comfortably shared with model Minh Trieu about her current work and life.

Miss Vietnam 2006 shared: “My current job is not stressful, but it is very stressful because I often rush into difficult tasks.

I believe that in the system I work for, I am an indispensable link. I have to do all the things that others don't do, so my job is a bit difficult and time-consuming."

Mai Phuong Thuy admitted that in the past 10 years she has limited her appearances in the media: "In the past 10 years I have limited my appearances in the media.

Before that, when I was 18, I appeared so much that my mother said, “Son, stop appearing in the media.” But even though I limited my appearances, I was still famous.”

The beauty shared that she decided to limit her appearances in the media and entertainment industry activities because she felt she could not become a professional performer.

She said: “I knew I couldn’t become a professional performer and reach the top. I also didn’t have a passion for the stage, I didn’t have a passion for being in front of the camera.

By the time I was 25, I thought I had to focus on a job that I was really good at. It had to be a job that gave me confidence and happiness, the stage or standing in front of the camera couldn't give me these things."

The beauty admitted: “ I was crowned at the age of 18, from then until I was 25, I participated in charity work, catwalking, acting in movies… But I thought that when I was 25, the audience would demand higher professionalism, more skills when I performed, so I decided to limit my appearances.

Actually, it was quite a shock to have to turn down everything to start from zero when I was so famous. But I didn’t have to think too much when I decided to focus on my new job.

I think I will pursue a job that makes my heart beat faster when I think about it.”

Mai Phuong Thuy affirmed that for her, "every day that passes is a wonderful day".

After a long time of changing career direction and limiting appearances at entertainment events, Mai Phuong Thuy commented: “I am very happy living and having passion. Every day that passes is a wonderful day.

Usually I wake up at 6am and then work until night. I am lucky to have money, fame and beauty so I can choose where to work.

My company doesn't have too many people, nor is it so big that I have to "wear a suit" to go to work to show a dignified image in front of everyone."

Miss Vietnam 2006 also humorously revealed that although she limits her media appearances, she is willing to participate in talk shows and podcasts with Minh Trieu because she is "fascinated" by Minh Trieu's beauty.

“I love beauty, I love girls who are openly beautiful. Sometimes I wonder if I compliment people too much, will I lose my value? Because I can’t build a classy, attractive image. That is very difficult to achieve.”
