Google Chrome is not a browser recommended by PCWorld experts.

PCWorld experts recently tested the top browsers to compare their key features. The main test criteria was the loading speed of web pages, especially those full of graphic elements and the web programming language JavaScript.

The hardware used for testing was an AMD Ryze 5 3600 processor, an Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti graphics card, 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM, a Samsung 970 Evo SSD, and Windows 10 version 22H2. The browsers tested were Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Vivaldi.

The tools used for testing are Speedometer 3.0, Jetstream2 and Motionmark 1.3. Speedometer tests the rendering speed of web pages, Motionmark analyzes the graphics rendering speed and Jetstream2 tests JavaScript execution.

Overall, the browsers tested for speed produced the final image when performing all the complex tasks. As a result, Chrome took first place in Speedometer's speed test, second place in Motionmark's test, and Jetstream2's test with a narrow margin over its competitors, becoming the winner.

However, PCWorld's testers don't recommend Chrome for everyone, even though it won. Whether you're a casual user or a power user, Chrome is almost always faster online.

However, Chrome's fatal weakness is that it collects too much personal information from users and for unclear purposes. Google's business model is based on data processing and the company has been repeatedly criticized for collecting large amounts of user data inappropriately.

Firefox, on the other hand, came in last in all tests, but it has the distinct advantage of not tracking user activity. If security is a top priority, PCWorld experts recommend Brave, which is the world's top browser for everyday use.

Google's Chrome browser currently accounts for more than 65% of the global browser market, while the market shares of its closest competitors Apple's Safari and Microsoft's Edge are much more modest - just 18.2 and 5.2%, respectively.
