Accordingly, at around 9:00 a.m. on September 25, in the Da hamlet area, Hai Tien residential group (Thuan An ward, Hue city), a tornado appeared, causing a series of houses to have their tiles and roofing sheets blown away.
Upon receiving the news, local authorities and border guards mobilized dozens of officers and soldiers to assist people in overcoming the consequences. According to initial statistics, 35 houses had their roofs blown off, and 3 injured people are being treated at the Thuan An ward medical station.
Meanwhile, at around 8:30 a.m. the same day, a tornado also occurred in Quang Thanh commune (Quang Dien district).
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Thanh Commune, said that the tornado affected about 39 houses in Thach Dien, Thanh Trung and Tay Thanh villages. Initial inspection showed that 14 houses had their roofs completely blown off, mainly due to being covered with cement sheets and corrugated iron.
“After the incident, local authorities sent forces to take inventory and coordinate with people to overcome the consequences, however, due to heavy rain, this also encountered many difficulties,” said Mr. Khoa.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Minh Hung, Deputy Commander of the Quang Dien District Military Command, the unit has sent 30 officers and soldiers to Quang Thanh commune to coordinate with local mobile militia to help people. The army and militia have initially helped the affected people move their property, rice, etc. to solid houses in the area.
“Due to the impact of heavy rain, some areas in Quang Dien have been flooded. We have directed the district mobile militia and commune militia to be on duty 100% in case of high water, and coordinate with other forces to help people evacuate and transport belongings to highlands. For now, we have moved the elderly living alone to safe shelters,” Lieutenant Colonel Hung shared.
Tornadoes also occurred in some other places in Thua Thien - Hue province, currently the specific damage figures are being counted by the authorities. The cause is the influence of tropical depression.
To ensure safety and avoid damage to people and property, the authorities have just announced the closure of Road 71 (Phong Xuan Commune, Phong Dien District) leading to the Alin B1, Alin B2, Rao Trang 3, and Rao Trang 4 hydropower plants.

Since the morning of September 25, in Thua Thien - Hue, there has been prolonged heavy rain, many low-lying areas are deeply flooded. The Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien - Hue province informed that in the next 6 hours, there is a high risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes, especially in Phong Dien, Quang Dien, A Luoi, Phu Loc, and Nam Dong districts.
