President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo congratulated President To Lam on being elected by the 15th National Assembly as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The Indonesian President believes that Vietnam will achieve many achievements in economic development; affirmed that Indonesia wishes to continue promoting the enhancement of the strategic partnership with Vietnam, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for the development and prosperity of Indonesia and Vietnam.
On behalf of all Canadians, Governor General Mary May Simon sent warm congratulations to President To Lam on the occasion of his new position, affirming that the Vietnam-Canada friendship is growing, demonstrated through the growth of trade and investment, the close relationship between the two peoples as well as the close cooperation between the two sides in multilateral forums. Governor General of Canada wished President To Lam success in his new position and believed that the relationship between the two countries will continue to achieve many results.

In the letter, the Indian leaders emphasized that the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is developed based on a strong historical friendship, trust and deep mutual understanding; the relationship between the two countries is developing well in many areas of cooperation.
