On July 20, the People's Court of Nhu Xuan district held a public online trial of three first-instance criminal cases against three defendants.

In preparation for this trial, the work of researching records, preparing facilities, digitizing documents, papers, deploying transmission lines from both ends of the bridge... has been carefully prepared by the Panel of Judges. In particular, the coordination between the bridge points was carried out synchronously and consistently by the two units of the Court and the District Police. The defendant answered the questions of the Panel of Judges, representatives of the Procuracy... through the screen system connecting the two bridge points.
At the online trial, the prosecuting agencies fully implemented the procedures of a trial according to regulations; the transmission system was stable; the judicial staff met the requirements of organizing online trials; complied with current regulations on information security, regulations on data, personal information... according to the provisions of law.
The defendant participated in the online trial at the Detention Center - Nhu Xuan District Police.
According to the indictment, the defendants Le Thien Quang and Le Duc Quang, both born in 2002, residing in Yen Cat town, Nhu Xuan district, were prosecuted for the crime of "Intentionally causing injury" under Clause 2, Article 134 of the Penal Code.
Defendant Ha Van Phuc, born in 2001, residing in Tan Binh commune, Nhu Xuan district, was prosecuted for the crime of "Theft of property" under point b, clause 1, Article 173 of the Penal Code.
Defendant Nguyen Van Luong, born in 1995, residing in Duy Son commune, Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, was prosecuted for the crime of "Using computer networks, telecommunications networks, and electronic means to commit acts of property appropriation" under points b and d, clause 2, Article 290 of the Penal Code.
After reviewing the case files, based on the content of the public interrogation and the provisions of the Penal Code, the panel sentenced defendant Ha Van Phuc to 9 months in prison; defendant Nguyen Van Luong to 36 months in prison; in the case of "Intentionally causing injury" against defendants Le Thien Quang and Le Duc Quang, the panel temporarily suspended the trial to collect additional documents and evidence.
This is the first online trial held in Nhu Xuan district in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 33/2021/QH15, dated November 12, 2021 of the 15th National Assembly and the Joint Circular between the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of National Defense detailing and guiding the implementation of organizing online trials.
Online trials aim to support or replace direct trials at court, helping courts improve trial quality; promote digital transformation in the court sector; expand opportunities to organize trials anywhere, anytime; and at the same time contribute to the effective implementation of judicial reform work of the court sector.
