Boosting consumption of OCOP products from digital transformation

Thanh Hoa currently has 629 OCOP products, of which 2 products have achieved 5-star OCOP, 59 products have achieved 4-star OCOP, and the rest are 3-star OCOP products. In order for OCOP products to reach a large number of consumers inside and outside the province, in addition to selling through traditional channels, OCOP entities also actively introduce, promote and sell products on digital platform applications.

In addition to selling spring rolls on digital platforms, Thanh Lan spring roll facility in Nga Lien commune (Nga Son) also sells directly to customers.

Phuong Cuong Phuc Company Limited, Bac Son Ward (Sam Son City) is a company specializing in producing fish sauce for consumers. Currently, the company has 2 products: herring fish sauce and anchovy fish sauce, which have been recognized as 3-star OCOP products.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Director of Phuong Cuong Phuc Company Limited, said: "Every year, the company produces about 4 - 5 thousand liters of various types of fish sauce. In order to sell the products, the company has made efforts to find and use sales channels. In addition to using traditional sales channels, the company also uses social networks (facebook, zalo), and participates in e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Tiki, Shopee, Sen Do... to introduce, promote and sell products... Thanks to that, 100% of the company's products are sold, of which 45% are sold through facebook, zalo and e-commerce platforms, contributing to revenue and creating stable jobs for 8 workers, with an income of 5 - 6 million VND/person/month".

Previously, the Nem Chua and Nem Thinh products of the Nem Thanh Lan production facility in Nga Lien commune (Nga Son) reached consumers through traditional sales channels. Currently, in addition to using this sales channel, the facility also promotes, introduces and sells products through digital platforms such as e-commerce platforms and social networks (zalo, facebook...), helping to increase the consumption of Nem compared to before.

Mr. Tran Van Phong, owner of Thanh Lan Nem Chua production facility, said: Currently, his family has 2 products: Nem Chua and Nem Thinh, which have achieved 3-star OCOP. According to Mr. Phong, after the product was recognized as OCOP, he participated in training courses to equip himself with knowledge and skills to introduce, promote and sell products on digital platforms organized by functional departments of the province and district. Since participating in these training courses, the Nem Chua and Nem Thinh products of the facility have had the opportunity to be promoted and introduced on digital platforms. Thanks to that, the family's Nem products are known to many customers inside and outside the province, making product consumption more convenient. Previously, the facility only produced and sold 6,500 nem thinh and nem chua each day, but now it has increased to 9,000 - 10,000 nem/day, contributing to creating regular jobs for 13 workers, with a stable income of 6 - 7 million VND/person/month.

Mr. Bui Cong Anh, Deputy Head of the Office of the New Rural Development Program Coordination of Thanh Hoa province, said: "Thanh Hoa has 629 OCOP products, of which 2 products have achieved 5-star OCOP, 59 products have achieved 4-star OCOP, and the rest are 3-star products. To facilitate OCOP products to reach a large number of consumers, in addition to selling through traditional channels, the subjects are also organized by the Office of the New Rural Development Program Coordination of Thanh Hoa province to train them in knowledge and skills to introduce and promote OCOP product brands on digital platforms. Up to now, 100% of the products have been introduced and promoted on e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Tiki, Shopee, Sen Do and social networks such as Zalo, Facebook... Through digital transformation, many units have searched for and expanded markets to boost product consumption in and outside the province, contributing to generating revenue for the subjects, while solving jobs and income for workers".

The above reality shows that digital transformation has helped the agricultural sector in general and production entities to promote and introduce products more widely, increase sales, expand consumption channels, and achieve the goal of bringing local OCOP products to the world market.
