Opening of National Tourism Year – Hue 2025: Vietnam tourism recovers spectacularly

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said that the National Tourism Year is held annually in rotation among provinces and cities across the country. Up to now, after 20 successful events, it has contributed significantly to promoting domestic tourism development, attracting a large number of international tourists, and promoting the image of Vietnam as a "Safe, friendly, peaceful, hospitable, integrated and developed" country to the world.

National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 with 160 exciting activities in Hue City and many provinces and cities across the country, in the direction of "combining strengths, multiplying advantages, and unleashing success". The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that in the coming time, it will proactively coordinate regularly and closely with ministries, branches, Hue City and provinces, cities, and the business community to soon form a smart tourism ecosystem associated with comprehensive digital transformation; strengthen connections, support and "take the experience of tourists as the center"; complete the transport infrastructure connecting destinations, promote bilateral tourism cooperation, cooperation through international organizations in the field of tourism...

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh said that this is the opening event for a series of cultural, sports and tourism activities taking place across provinces and cities across the country, promising to turn Hue into a tourism and cultural center of Vietnam and the region, contributing to promoting and inspiring people to travel, creating momentum to promote the tourism industry to recover and develop quickly and sustainably.

Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh affirmed that tourism is a key economic sector, contributing to creating jobs, improving incomes for millions of workers, helping many households in remote areas escape poverty, bringing a new look, reviving relics after years of neglect. Tourism also promotes cooperation, cultural exchange, international integration, building friendship, maintaining peace, helping the unique cultural values of the nation to be promoted, deeply absorbed, and spread domestically and internationally...

"In just 2023 and 2024, Vietnam's tourism has recovered spectacularly, far exceeding the planned target and becoming one of the bright spots of the economy. Vietnam is the fourth largest destination in ASEAN in terms of the number of visitors and total tourism revenue. This is not only a signal of a strong recovery but also a testament to the sustainable appeal of Vietnam's tourism on the world map," Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized.

In addition, Vietnam continues to rise in the Tourism Competitiveness Index, receiving many prestigious tourism awards such as “Asia’s Leading Tourist Destination”, “World’s Leading Heritage Destination” and hundreds of awards from other tourism businesses. This is international recognition of the potential and attractiveness of Vietnam tourism, and at the same time, a driving force for us to continue to make stronger breakthroughs in the future.

2025 is expected to be a milestone marking the strong return of Vietnamese tourism with hopeful goals, expected to welcome 22 - 23 million international visitors, 120 - 130 million domestic visitors; striving for total tourism revenue to reach about 980 - 1,050 trillion VND.

"Vietnam is entering a new era, when tourism is not only an experience, but also a bridge of friendship, cooperation and sustainable development. Resolution No. 08/2017 of the Politburo clearly stated that "Vietnam's tourism industry has developed strongly but its potential advantages are still great, requiring us to constantly strive and be creative. In the coming time, the tourism industry needs to thoroughly grasp the direction of the Prime Minister in Directive No. 08/CT-TTg dated February 23, 2024 on comprehensive, fast and sustainable tourism development with the motto "Unique products - Professional services - Convenient and simple procedures - Reasonable prices - Clean and beautiful environment - Safe, civilized and friendly destinations" - Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh suggested.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the National Tourism Year - Hue 2025, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Van Phuong shared that with 8 heritages recognized by UNESCO, Hue is proud to be not only a tourist destination but also a place to preserve important cultural values of Vietnam. Hosting the National Tourism Year 2025 is an opportunity for Hue to introduce its cultural, historical and natural beauties to domestic and foreign tourists.

According to comrade Nguyen Van Phuong, this is also a great honor when Hue City has just officially become a city directly under the Central Government and is a strong motivation for Hue to continue to preserve, honor and spread traditional cultural values; at the same time, it is an opportunity for Hue to affirm its aspiration to rise up, innovate and create, towards a sustainable development future in a new era - the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.
