“Just an apology, but no!”
According to Thanh Nien 's investigation, the customer in the above story is Ms. PA (26 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City). Sharing with us, the girl said that on the evening of July 1, she ordered a vegetarian meal through a food delivery app for a total of 62,000 VND.
Opening the vegetarian lunch box, Ms. A. said she discovered a cockroach.
This restaurant is located on Than Nhan Trung Street (Ward 13, Tan Binh District). "At first, when I opened the lunch box, I saw something that looked like a cockroach. I just wanted to call the restaurant to give my feedback instead of rating it on the app right away because even though I don't work in F&B, I understand the owner's mentality when customers give bad reviews on the app," the girl said and recounted the conversation with the restaurant over the phone, as follows:
Sister A: Sister! I just bought a box of fried rice from the restaurant. I just opened it, what's in the box?
Shop side: What is it?
Sister A: Like a cockroach!
Restaurant side: What's so strange?
According to the girl, she then heard the person answering the phone say to someone, "He called to report a cockroach in the lunch box," then the other end of the line hung up without saying anything more. Because she did not receive any satisfactory explanation, Ms. A. decided to leave a review on the food delivery app, and the next morning, she posted the incident on social media as well as reviewed the restaurant on Google.

Afterwards, she received a response from the restaurant on the app, which read as follows: “Do you want to be reborn? If you want to be reborn, then stop your harassment and slander. You chose a vegetarian day to do this, so you don’t believe in the law of cause and effect. Most people like you are immoral. Don’t go to a vegetarian restaurant to eat.”
After reading this feedback, the customer was extremely upset because after many days, she still did not receive any apology or explanation from the restaurant, but instead was attacked. The girl added that right after the incident happened, the application she ordered from called to apologize for the incident as well as refund the entire amount.
“I am not a competitor, just a normal customer ordering food at the restaurant for the first time. I just wanted the restaurant to pay more attention, but the restaurant's attitude is unacceptable. The only thing I need is an apology from the restaurant, but there is none," she said indignantly.
“I guarantee with my life…”
According to the address provided by Ms. A, the reporter went to this vegetarian restaurant on the afternoon of July 4. At that time, the restaurant was empty. Ms. Hong (60 years old, restaurant owner) confirmed that the restaurant was involved in the above scandal.
Mrs. Hong's shop has been empty since the incident happened.
Regarding the customer's complaint that there was an animal that looked like a cockroach in the lunch box, the owner said: "I dare to put my life on the line to guarantee that there is no way a cockroach could have gotten into the lunch box because during the process of preparing the dish for the customer, the rice was put from the pan into the box very quickly, and I was careful to put a layer of banana leaves underneath," she asserted.
The owner said that in the 5 years she has been selling this vegetarian dish, she has only received 2 complaints from customers and this is the second case. Because she is sure there cannot be a cockroach in the dish, she did not apologize to the customer.
Regarding the customer feedback on the food delivery app, asking customers: “Do you want to be reborn?”, she said that it was not her opinion but that of a nephew who helped her sell the shop, and that he was so upset that he gave such feedback. As soon as she found out, she was startled, scolded her nephew and the comment was deleted.
The owner assured that there were no cockroaches in her food.
Over the past few days, the owner confided that she had lost sleep and appetite, was mentally exhausted, and almost fainted due to constant harassment from strange phone numbers and text messages. Her shop has also become deserted and has few customers.
Currently, her restaurant mainly sells take-out through delivery apps and only she and her daughter work together. She said that over the past 5 years, her restaurant has had many foreigners coming to eat and everyone loves the taste of her vegetarian dishes.
