According to Thanh Nien , at around 11am on May 21 (April 14th of the lunar calendar), many vegetarian restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City in District 1, District 10... were packed with customers coming to eat on the spot as well as shippers picking up the goods to deliver. In some places, shippers lined up from the restaurant to the street.
Around 11am, a vegetarian restaurant on De Tham Street (District 1) was crowded with shippers coming to pick up orders for delivery. More than 20 people in the restaurant, both the owner and the staff, worked continuously without stopping so that shippers would not have to wait long.
Mr. Hung, the owner of this vegetarian restaurant, said that on a vegetarian day like today, the number of customers increased 3-4 times compared to normal days, so he mobilized more people to help. It is expected that tomorrow, the number of employees will double, about 40 people, in time to serve the Buddha's birthday 2024.
Shippers lined up outside, waiting in an orderly manner for their turn to receive orders. Mr. Van Minh (62 years old) said that he usually receives orders at the restaurant, so he was not too surprised when the number of people coming to receive food for delivery on vegetarian days was unusually high. "Today and tomorrow, it's very crowded, many people are vegetarian. The first time I came to the restaurant to deliver food on vegetarian days, I was surprised, but now I'm used to it. The restaurant works quickly so shippers don't have to wait long," he said.
