A representative of the Vien Dong Hotel, part of the BenThanh Tourist system, said that from August 3, the frequency of serving vegetarian buffets will be increased and the program will be extended for a month to meet the increased demand of diners during the seventh lunar month.
In particular, on weekends during this time, the hotel will organize an additional vegetarian buffet in the evening.
"The current price of the vegetarian buffet is 189,000 VND/ticket, with no price increase or surcharge on weekends or holidays. Customers will receive a 10% discount on the ticket price if they book the service one day in advance," said a hotel representative.
Majestic Hotel also started offering vegetarian buffets on the weekends of Vu Lan month with prices starting from VND189,000 for children and VND379,000 for adults. Last year, this program received an enthusiastic reception from locals and tourists when the number of buffet tickets sold far exceeded expectations.
"Customers are often multi-generational families and friends enjoying vegetarian dishes during Vu Lan month. This price is quite reasonable for 5-star hotel service, so it is well received by customers" - the hotel representative shared.
At supermarkets such as Co.opMart, Bach Hoa Xanh, Lotte..., many vegetarian products are on promotion and discounted to stimulate consumption. The vegetarian food section is very rich with items such as banh nam, banh loc, cha gio, ha cao... pre-processed at quite cheap prices.
According to records, the vegetarian food market has been very busy in recent years and more and more high-end restaurants are participating. Grasping the vegetarian trend of young people, some restaurants have switched to vegetarian dishes with diversity in preparation and presentation.
Business people say the vibrant vegetarian food market is partly due to the growing popularity of the macrobiotic diet. Many restaurants are introducing seasonal specialties from Vietnamese vegetables and grains to prepare vitamin-rich, healthy dishes.
Even Chinese and Japanese restaurants launch vegetarian menus with elaborate preparations, bringing a different culinary experience to diners.
