BANGKOK POST. The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects more than 1 million international tourists to visit the country during the Lunar New Year holiday, bringing in revenue of 34.39 billion baht (about 964.14 million USD).

Xinhua News Agency. Chinese authorities found the bodies of seven victims while 40 people were still missing after a landslide in Liangshui village, Zhaotong city, Yunnan province, as of the afternoon of January 22.
REUTERS. China will investigate and punish officials who falsify economic data , amid doubts about the reliability of the figures it publishes.
YONHAP. For the first time in history, the number of employees at large Korean corporations exceeded 3 million, accounting for 11% of the country's total workforce.
KOREA TIMES. The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) has donated $500,000 to help Japan recover from the devastating earthquake that struck central Japan earlier this month, killing more than 200 people.
MNA. Sri Lankan police said five people were killed in a shooting in Beliatta, Southern Province, suspected to be gang-related.
IRNA. Iran and Pakistan have announced that their ambassadors will return to work after the two countries agreed to de-escalate tensions following mutual air strikes last week.
DAWN. Joint military training between the Pakistan Army and the Royal Saudi Army began on January 21 in Okara district of Punjab province - East Pakistan.

BBC. The UK has imposed new sanctions on individuals linked to the Islamist movement Hamas, including one of its leaders, under the international Counter-Terrorism sanctions regime.
SKY NEWS. Britain is taking the threat of foreign interference in elections scheduled for later this year "very seriously", Defence Secretary Grant Shapps has said.
REUTERS. New Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk arrived in Ukraine to discuss the situation in Ukraine and Poland's security with President Volodymyr Zelensky and his counterpart Denys Shmyhal.

RFE. Slovakia's Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova has decided to lift the suspension of cultural cooperation with Russia and Belarus, which came into effect in March 2022 after the conflict in Ukraine broke out.
AFP. The EU added six individuals and five entities to its sanctions list for “engaging in the transport of Syrian mercenaries, arms trafficking, drug trafficking or money laundering in support of the Syrian regime’s activities.”
AFP. Belgian Interior Minister Annelies Verlinden called for closer cooperation between EU ports to improve operational efficiency in the context of increasingly sophisticated drug crimes.
SPUTNIK NEWS. The Czech Republic will sign an agreement to purchase 24 fifth-generation F-35A Lightning II fighter jets from the United States by the end of March 2024, Defense Minister Jana Cernochova said.

EGYPT NEWS. Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will lead the Egyptian delegation to the 10th meeting of the EU-Egypt Association Council, scheduled to take place in Brussels, Belgium.
WHO. The global fight against malaria has taken a major step forward with Cameroon launching the world's first routine RTS,S vaccination programme to prevent the mosquito-borne disease.
