Snap Map is a feature that allows Snapchat users to view location-based content, but also allows them to share their location with friends. If two users follow each other, they can share their location so they can see what's going on around them.
Not only that, this feature has been expanded by Snapchat such as adding it to the Explore map section, the iOS version expanded the popular location sharing feature, added the memories feature and followed Apple's Find My feature with real-time location sharing function.
Friend Map is a feature Instagram copied from Snapchat
With Instagram, a developer reverse engineered the app in November 2023 and discovered that the Meta app was building an Instagram Friends Map, and he also discovered a series of screens showing how it worked. The features listed included selecting friends to share with, end-to-end encryption of user locations, and anything shared with a location tag would appear on a map...
As always with this type of discovery, it's unclear when or if Instagram will roll out the feature. Mashable notes that it's highly likely that the app will continue to adopt Snapchat's feature, as Instagram has a history of copying features from other social media apps.
First of all, Stories was developed by Snapchat, Reels is a copy of TikTok. Even Instagram's Notes and Threads are said to be taken from Twitter/X and Candid from Bereal.
