Attending the opening ceremony of Huong Sen Bookstore at 76 Bac Son Street, Hoang Van Thu Ward, Thai Nguyen City, on the morning of March 15, Comrade Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, proposed to organize a discussion about books every month. This is a practical activity towards the Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) this year.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his impression and joy that the province has another large-scale bookstore with many books, contributing to the development of reading culture in the province. He said: Investing in culture is always a long-term, sustainable and in-depth task. He suggested that Huong Sen Bookstore not only create a reading culture space but also in the long term be a place for extracurricular cultural activities, exchanges between authors and readers, book introductions, book discussions... to become a destination with meaningful activities, contributing to building cultural beauty in social life, serving the public and book lovers.

On February 24, 2014, the Prime Minister signed a decision to make April 21 every year Vietnam Book Day. Then, to make reading culture more widely popular, on November 4, 2021, the Prime Minister decided to organize Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, replacing the previous Vietnam Book Day.
