The scientific and technological project "Research and development of a process for raising pigs for meat from natural food supplemented with Thai Nguyen green tea" has been chaired by Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry since June 2023.
The model of raising pigs for meat using natural food supplemented with Thai Nguyen green tea (in Thinh Duc commune, Thai Nguyen city) achieved positive results. |
Starting to conduct research on pig diets using some natural ingredients and supplementing green tea leaf powder in a pilot model in Thinh Duc commune (Thai Nguyen city) with 72 native and imported pigs, after 6 months, it showed that adding green tea leaf powder to the diet did not affect the growth rate of the pigs...
From the above results, the research team continued to build a pilot model of raising pigs for meat from natural food supplemented with Thai Nguyen green tea ingredients in Thinh Duc commune with a scale of 140 foreign pigs and 60 native black pigs.
The model applies a 3% green tea powder supplement rate to pig feed and achieves positive results. Specifically, it increases immunity, reduces common diseases in the digestive tract and gives softer, more fragrant meat than pigs raised by traditional and industrial methods.
The research team has registered intellectual property with 2 contents: The process of raising and caring for pigs with natural food supplemented with green tea leaf powder (Camellia sinensis) and the Thai Nguyen Green Tea Pork Brand.
In the coming time, Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry will continue to coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province and localities to guide and transfer technology to deploy a model of raising pigs for meat from feed supplemented with Thai Nguyen green tea ingredients in the province.
