Among imported vehicles, cars with less than 9 seats continued to account for the largest proportion with 12,776 units, accounting for 84.8% of the total number of cars imported into Vietnam in August. However, compared to the previous month, this number decreased by 8.8%, equivalent to a decrease of 1,239 units. This reflects a slowdown in the passenger car market, although it still maintains a large advantage.
Regarding the main import markets, Thailand leads with 6,384 units, followed by Indonesia with 5,770 units and China with 2,443 units. These three countries account for 97% of the total volume of completely built-up cars imported into Vietnam, showing a large dependence on partners in the Southeast Asian region.
Statistics from the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) show that sales of its members reached 25,196 vehicles, down 13% from the previous month but up 12% from the same period last year.
In addition, the number of imported trucks in August also decreased significantly. Specifically, only 1,351 trucks were imported, with a total value of 36.7 million USD, down nearly 40% compared to the previous month. For cars with more than 9 seats, the import volume was extremely low, with only 18 imported into Vietnam in the month.
According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA), total sales of its members in August reached 25,196 vehicles, down 13% compared to July, but still up 12% compared to the same period last year. Notably, sales of domestically assembled vehicles reached 12,064 vehicles, down 13% compared to the previous month, while sales of completely imported vehicles also decreased similarly, reaching only 13,132 vehicles.
In addition, Thanh Cong Group (TC GROUP) also announced Hyundai car sales results in August, with total sales reaching 4,679 units. Of which, Hyundai Accent continued to lead the list of the company's best-selling cars with 937 units, followed by Hyundai Creta with 613 units sold.
