Source of high quality work for journalism awards

Over the past year, many provincial and municipal Journalists Associations have always paid attention to improving the quality and quantity of professional training courses to improve the professional qualifications and journalism skills of members and journalists. Localities have actively implemented this with diverse forms, measures, and creative approaches, achieving high results.

Thanks to that, the team of journalists who are well-trained and have a firm grasp of their profession has developed strongly in both quantity and quality, contributing to bringing to the public impressive journalistic works, carefully researched and invested, meeting the public's diverse information needs.

In Binh Dinh province, every year, the Provincial Journalists Association coordinates with the Vietnam Journalists Association's Center for Journalism Training and invites prestigious and experienced domestic journalist experts to exchange and teach about 4 journalism training courses for nearly 250 members. The training courses mainly discuss modern journalism skills to keep up with the changes in world journalism.

Journalist Do Nguyen Hung, Chairman of the Binh Dinh Journalists Association, said that at the training courses, in addition to exchanging theories, the trainees were also guided by lecturers through the form of practical trips to create journalistic products. The combination of theory and practice has helped members acquire a lot of new and useful knowledge, thereby effectively applying it in practice. Many young reporters and journalists in the province have gradually matured through professional training activities and creative field trips organized by the Provincial Journalists Association.

“The Association also always identifies innovation and creativity in training to improve professional qualifications for members in order to improve the quality of works participating in the Provincial Press Awards and the quality of works participating in the National Press Awards. Organizing professional training courses, organizing field trips to collect materials to create high-quality press works and ordering members to create many high-quality press works, thereby improving the quality of the Provincial Press Awards, and increasing the number of participating works” - journalist Do Nguyen Hung shared more.

In fact, in any locality where specialized activities, seminars, talks, professional training courses, and invitations to journalist experts to share experiences are organized, there will be more quality journalistic works. In that locality, there will be many members and journalists whose professional skills will be improved, especially in modern journalism, contributing to changing the traditional way of journalism, gradually improving the quality of each online newspaper, photojournalism, and radio and television product.

Local press works are improved in quality, not only helping to effectively propagate and reach more audiences, but also providing high-quality works to participate in the annual National Press Awards and specialized press awards, and local press awards.

In the past time, 60 provincial and municipal Journalists Associations have participated in organizing provincial and municipal Press Awards. Local press awards have also attracted members and journalists to compete in creating high-quality press works, serving the information and propaganda work on local socio-economic development.

Enhance creativity, courage, intelligence

At the Nam Dinh Provincial Journalists Association, in recent years, the unit has also regularly paid attention to maintaining the organization for reporters to participate in short-term and concentrated journalism training. Focusing on training a team of proactive and dynamic reporters to carry out and convey topics on politics, socio-economics, etc., into high-quality journalistic works.

Nam Dinh Provincial Journalists Association has strengthened the training and development of reporters and editors to meet the requirements of the digital transformation period, regularly organizing training courses or sending reporters and editors to participate in training courses organized by the Vietnam Journalists Association, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the Central Propaganda Department. The focus is on training knowledge on building a multimedia newsroom model, a converged newsroom, digital transformation, improving the quality of press photos, graphic design, production and editing of television news on smartphones, etc.

In the modern journalism trend, reporters now do not simply know how to write or take photos, but they have been trained to become multi-talented reporters, proficient in using equipment for different types of journalism. A journalist can collect information, film, take photos, edit videos, and even design graphics to independently produce multimedia journalism products.

It can be said that, in response to the demands of society, the increasingly complex explosion of multi-dimensional information, journalists often have to face challenges and difficulties. In that context, enhancing professional training and modern journalism skills for reporters has improved the quality and effectiveness of propaganda activities of press agencies.

Once modern journalism skills and knowledge are applied from theory to practice, it will contribute to enhancing the creativity, courage, intelligence and spirit of dedication of journalists who are not afraid of difficulties and dangers. Modern journalism skills will also be promoted sustainably in today's stressful environment.
