Speaking at an online press conference, Director General of Information and Mass Communications of the Indonesian Ministry of Information and Communications Usman Kansong said the conference will discuss important emerging issues in the region, as well as issues related to cooperation with external partners.
Specifically, the Summit will discuss the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC), the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (SEANFWZ), the ASEAN Maritime Vision, the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP), and issues related to Myanmar.
The 43rd ASEAN Summit and Related Summits will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) with the participation of leaders of 26 countries. In addition to ASEAN member countries, the summit will be attended by leaders of dialogue partners including Australia, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, the United States, Canada, and representatives of the United Nations.
According to Mr. Kansong, several side events will also take place during the 43rd ASEAN Summit Week, including the ASEAN Business Summit hosted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), and the ASEAN Investment Forum organized by the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
Indonesian President Joko Widodo, ASEAN Chair 2023, is expected to hold a press conference to announce the results of the Summit.
