The Southern Intermediate Pali Culture Supplementary School of Soc Trang province visited and exchanged translation experiences at Tra Vinh Newspaper.

Receiving the delegation were comrade Son Hung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief; staff, editors, translators, and technicians of Tra Vinh Newspaper.

Mr. Thach Rich, Vice Principal of the Southern Pali Intermediate Cultural Supplementary School in Soc Trang province, said: The project to train Khmer language for officials, civil servants and public employees in Soc Trang province was approved by the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to improve Khmer language proficiency as well as equip the team of officials, civil servants and public employees with necessary knowledge about customs, practices and cultural traditions of the Khmer people. Thereby, contributing to improving the effectiveness of mobilizing and propagating Khmer people to believe in the leadership of the Party, policies and laws of the State and local regulations.

The project will be implemented in the period from 2020 - 2025, divided into levels: basic Khmer, advanced Khmer, Khmer translation and interpretation and broadcast the program "Learning Khmer together" on Soc Trang Radio and Television Station.

Mr. Thach Rich, Vice Principal of the Southern Intermediate Pali Cultural Supplementary School in Soc Trang province, discussed the school's Khmer language training program.

Since its implementation, the School has coordinated with the Project Steering Committee to organize 06 courses (30 classes) with 1,557 students. Of which, the translation and interpretation class 04.2024 of the Project has so far completed 270/300 lessons. According to the students' wishes, the School organized a field trip to Tra Vinh Newspaper to study and exchange experiences in translation work.

Comrade Son Hung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tra Vinh Newspaper, shared the process of formation and development of Tra Vinh Khmer Newspaper; the effectiveness of propaganda work on the Party's policies and the State's laws on Tra Vinh Khmer Newspaper to cadres, civil servants, officials, monks, and Khmer students in the province. At the same time, he discussed Khmer translation activities, some points to note in Khmer translation, documents related to the translation of Vietnamese into Khmer and vice versa...

Mr. Lam Nhung, Principal of the Southern Pali Intermediate Cultural Supplementary School in Soc Trang province, highly appreciated the meeting and experience exchange at Tra Vinh Newspaper.

Mr. Lam Nhung, Principal of the School, added: in addition to learning Khmer, students participating in training classes also learn singing, dancing, and customs of the Khmer people. Through the discussion with officers, reporters, and editors of the Tra Vinh Khmer Newspaper, it was shown that this is a suitable unit, helping students of the 04.2024 translation class learn some experiences in translation, creating favorable conditions for students of the translation - interpretation class to access and be able to apply the knowledge they have learned in their future work.
