International Press Conference on the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians
In recent times, the Vietnamese National Assembly has actively participated in activities within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), including the Global Conferences of Young Parliamentarians. At these Conferences, the Vietnamese delegation proactively and actively participated, sharing information, experiences, guidelines and policies of Vietnam related to the issues discussed at the Conference; at the same time, making specific proposals to enhance the role of young parliamentarians in solving global issues.
With the approval of the Politburo and the support of the member parliaments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the National Assembly of Vietnam will host the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians from September 14-18, 2023 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Following information about this important event, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the National Assembly of Hau Giang Province Le Thi Thanh Lam said that this is a practical activity to implement the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress and Resolution No. 34-NQ/TW of the Secretariat of the 13th Party Central Committee on promoting and enhancing multilateral diplomacy until 2030 and the Strategy for developing Vietnamese youth for the period 2021-2030. At the same time, it demonstrates the deep concern of the Party, State, and National Assembly for Vietnamese youth and young people, contributing to strengthening the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and important partners, especially parliamentarians and young leaders of countries.

Reporter: Dear delegates, from September 14-17, 2023, the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians will take place in Hanoi. This is the first time the Vietnamese National Assembly has hosted it, so how do you evaluate this important multilateral parliamentary diplomacy event?
Deputy Head of the Delegation in charge of the Hau Giang Provincial National Assembly Delegation Le Thi Thanh Lam: This is the first time the Vietnamese National Assembly has hosted the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference. I believe that this is a foreign affairs event of great importance and significance for Vietnam in 2023. The Vietnamese National Assembly hosting the Conference is a practical activity to implement the foreign affairs policy of the 13th National Party Congress and Resolution No. 34-NQ/TW of the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat on promoting and enhancing multilateral diplomacy by 2030.
I believe that hosting this Conference contributes to affirming the active, responsible and proactive participation of the Vietnamese National Assembly in the IPU, the world's largest parliamentary union; and at the same time shows the attention and concern of the Party and State leaders for youth and global issues of youth.
Besides, this is a multilateral parliamentary diplomacy channel that has contributed a lot to maintaining peace, promoting cooperation, enhancing understanding, building trust between parliaments, expanding the role and influence of young parliamentarians on common issues, for peace, cooperation and development in general of the world, and of young people in particular, to meet the development requirements in the context of national innovation.
Reporter: The general theme chosen for the 9th Global Meeting of Young Parliamentarians is “The role of youth in promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through digital transformation and innovation”. In your opinion, what is the significance of this theme in the current context?
Le Thi Thanh Lam, Deputy Head of the Delegation of the National Assembly of Hau Giang Province: The annual IPU Global Young Parliamentarians' Conference is a special forum for young parliamentarians to meet, exchange, learn, and shape common strategies and innovations to promote the goal of empowering young parliamentarians and youth. The 2023 conference will focus on accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through digital transformation and innovation.
For the topic "The role of youth in promoting the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals through digital transformation and innovation", I am particularly interested in the content of Sustainable Development Goals through digital transformation and innovation.
Because this is a strong topic because Vietnam is one of the countries that always cares about and issues programs and strategies on National Digital Transformation and is a country that has awareness of digital transformation along with advanced countries in the world to serve socio-economic development, security and defense, towards implementing the digital economy and digital society of the whole country.
