The theme of the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians: “The role of youth in promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals through digital transformation and innovation”, which took place in Hanoi in mid-September. This is a content that is in line with the current inevitable trend and is considered a priority of many countries; at the same time, it is also an area where young people in general, young parliamentarians and young National Assembly deputies in particular, can promote their strengths in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals of countries.

[/caption]The theme of the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians’ Conference meets three important goals: First, it addresses global issues that all countries need to work together to solve. Second, it meets the intrinsic needs of young people. Third, it is consistent with Vietnam’s development orientation in the coming period. These goals, although independent, are closely related to each other, creating space and conditions to maximize the capacity and creativity of young people, contributing to the development of each country as well as peace and prosperity on a global scale.
Vietnam is currently a country with a young population. With the special attention of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the National Assembly of Vietnam, in 2015, the Standing Committee of the 13th National Assembly established the Vietnam Young National Assembly Delegates Group, consisting of National Assembly deputies under the age of 45. In the context of digital transformation being a global trend and vital to each country, the participation of young parliamentarians, who are proactive and quick to adapt to digital transformation and innovation, will contribute to promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals.
Chairman of the Vietnam Young National Assembly Delegates Group, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, emphasized: In Vietnam, the National Assembly is promoting the completion of the legal framework and institutional foundation for the digital transformation process, innovation and start-ups, preserving and promoting the country's cultural values in the context of increasingly deep international integration. We, the young National Assembly deputies, are aware of our responsibility to actively and effectively participate in the process of building and completing institutions and legal frameworks, effectively participating in supervising the implementation of policies and conveying the message of the Conference to young voters, helping them equip themselves with the necessary mindset, knowledge and skills to shoulder this important mission and responsibility.

The member parliaments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) as well as the governments of all countries are well aware and affirm that digital transformation and innovation are inevitable trends that help speed up and make the implementation of sustainable development goals more equitable for each country as well as global citizens so that no one is left behind. In the context of the current slow progress in implementing sustainable development goals, the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians is a solution for parliaments of all countries and the United Nations to take advantage of innovative technology, accelerate the search for solutions to promote the implementation of sustainable development goals. Domestically, the Conference affirms Vietnam's proactive and active commitment to participate in parliamentary diplomacy activities as well as promote Vietnam's innovation achievements over the past 30 years.
Mr. Dinh Cong Sy, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Group of Young National Assembly Deputies of the 15th tenure, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, said that digital transformation is currently a global trend and a matter of concern for all countries. Which country knows how to take advantage of the achievements of digital transformation in various fields will determine the speed of development. Young parliamentarians, as politicians closest to the young generation, as people who understand science and technology, as future leaders, need to join hands in promoting digital transformation, applying digital transformation to accelerate the implementation of sustainable development goals.
Emphasizing the role of young people in the trend of digital transformation and innovation in the current context, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Young National Assembly Delegates Group, stated: “The current young generation has a great mission of changing the development model of humanity in a more sustainable direction. Truly human-centered and more environmentally friendly. To do that, it is necessary to promote the green growth model, circular economy, reasonable consumption, along with the driving force from digital transformation, innovation and creating added values from the cultural identity of our country and our people. That is also the area of strength of young people that needs to be maximized to both contribute to changing the growth model and creating a more prosperous life for future generations.”
Youth is the main force that carries the mission and historical responsibility in the integration and development of each country and the common prosperity of the world. Each young Vietnamese parliamentarian is a dynamic ambassador, promoting intelligence, youth, creativity, responsibility and enthusiasm to make positive contributions to the common development of all humanity./.
