Speaking at the "Le Quy Don High School Student Experience Day" on the morning of March 2, Ms. Bui Minh Tam (Principal of Le Quy Don High School, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City) said that students taking the 10th grade exam need to have a different orientation in choosing a high school in the context that schools are implementing the 2018 general education program.
Students cannot choose a school like before, "just go to high school first and then think about it later". Because the conditions for organizing subject combinations in each high school are not the same.
According to Ms. Tam, students and parents need to pay attention to 5 things when choosing a high school to take the 10th grade entrance exam in the context of the school implementing the 2018 general education program:
First, it is necessary to base on the student's learning ability.
Second, it is necessary to base on the geographical distance from the high school where the student wants to take the exam to where he/she lives. Students and parents should choose a school near home because going to school for three years will be less expensive and difficult.
Third, it is necessary to base on the family's financial conditions when choosing a high school. Parents and students need to know the tuition fees and contributions of the high school they have chosen for their children to be proactive in their financial resources during their studies.

Fourth, it is necessary to refer to the school's admission standards from previous years to estimate the possibility of passing that school, as well as base on the school's reputation to see if the individual student is really suitable or not.
Fifth, it is necessary to base on the student's career orientation to see if it is suitable for the chosen high school or not.
This is the key point in choosing a school to take the 10th grade exam today. Because high schools implement different compulsory subjects and subject combinations, depending on the actual organizational conditions and strengths of the school.
"High schools are teaching according to the 2018 program. This program allows students to choose their subjects. However, the objectivity of this subject selection is based on the guidance of documents regulating subject selection in the program and on the actual organizational conditions at each school.
Therefore, students must know which subjects and combinations they need to study and whether the school they choose to take the exam offers those subjects and combinations or not. Otherwise, when they start studying and the school does not have those combinations, they will be very disappointed," Ms. Tam emphasized.
1,000 students learn about 10th grade
During the experience day, Le Quy Don High School welcomed about 1,000 secondary school students from Nguyen Du Secondary School, Minh Duc Secondary School, Le Quy Don Secondary School and about 200 parents.
Attending the experience day, in addition to receiving advice, students can experience 15 subjects and participate in school clubs.
